Actually the MSM couldn't even get the lie right!

The small press "pool" that accompanies the president had been told to gather at the White House at 11:30 a.m. He left about 9:20 a.m.

That is more than two hours!

About an hour before reporters were supposed to be in position to leave with the president, Obama left the grounds of the White House.

I get the feeling he wasn’t watching his daighter but doing something he didn’t want the press to see?

Livius had an update in case anyone else missed it. I am copying it below. I hope this isn’t true, but I would not put it past the Chicago thugs in the WH to threaten pulling secret service, even if they couldn’t legally do it. The law and/or the constitution hasn’t stopped them before!

“The poster now says that the report ran two or three times on WOID and was then pulled. He (or she?) contacted the station to ask why the report disappeared and was told that the producer will call back later with more information.”

No. No more Secret Service for life. Clinton changed all that to START after he left office. I’m not positive about how many years of security President Bush will get - 5 or 10 - but it is no longer for life.

Doesn’t former President Bush have an international warrant out for his arrest?

He wouldn't have to give an off-the-cuff comment on the Poland disaster if the press wasn't there. His “statement” will have to stand, I guess.

I don’t think so, but when has the law or constitution ever stopped the Chicago thug WH from acting like heathens? It sounds like an empty bully tactic if it’s true. Obama doesn’t want Bush to show him up because Obama is probably not going to go. Obama certainly doesn’t want Bush going if he is going, because the Polish people love Bush and that might embarrass the new narcissist American dictator when Bush is greeted more warmly than him. Remember..it’s all about Obama all the time. Can’t be about anyone else...even if they just died in a tragic plane crash.

Exactly. Somebody wrote a statement for him, he then shuns the press so he doesn’t have to give a live and unscripted video statement. What a small man he is.

I thought that Bush’s SS detail is for life?

Thanks, I didn’t see the post or hear the report, but like I said before, I don’t know where it is written that a sitting president has any say over the secret service detail over any former president’s secret service detail.

Jimmy Carter, for example, travels to enemy countries on his own, and his detail accompanies him.

Obama might decide to withhold a government airplane and maybe (or likely) he can do that.

Shame on him if that’s the avenue he takes.

At one time, former presidents received secret service protection for life. This changed in 1996, and now former presidents and first ladies are only entitled to this protection for ten years after their service to the country. The protection can, however, continue especially if ordered by the current president in office. Essentially, the president has the authority to extend secret service protection to anyone or to any event, such as a meeting of high-ranking officials that might carry potential danger

President Bush is the first president to only get SS protection for ten years. Some stupid new law. Probably something the dems came up with when they took power in 2006. Go figure...

So far no new information. I wonder if it was just being floated? Or maybe it was a preemptive leak? I’m assuming that the poster heard it correctly, since it’s a reliable poster I recognize and know from the Florida board.

Are you sure it changed in 96? I didn’t think it changed in 1996 because I read somewhere that President Bush is the first President to fall under the new law. If it passed in 96, President Clinton would have been subject to it and he is not.

It could have been leaked and the radio station put the brakes on it so as not to hurt the Messiah.
