AZ-Sen. 2010: Sen. John McCain Interview: Immigration (McCain now wants to build the fence)
The Arizona Daily Star, Tucson, Ariz. ^ | 2010-04-11

Posted on 04/10/2010 9:32:27 AM PDT by rabscuttle385

McCAIN: My view is you need a physical fence. But we all know that unless physical fences are surveilled, and then people just punch holes in them. And so I saw in Iraq on my visit there that their ability to serveil areas is that we have the technology now.

(snip)

McCAIN: After the border is secured, then obviously we have to address the issue of the 12 million people who are still in this country illegally. I don't know what ... American public opinion will take. But one of the key elements, as was in our previous legislation, is a legal temporary worker program.

Now, it's just a fact that the unions have long opposed a legal temporary worker program. And I respect their reasons for it, I just don't agree with it.

So the president has not come forward with a proposal for immigration reform. (Sens. Charles) Schumer and (Lindsey) Graham have talked about parameters for them, and other people have. But one of the reasons why he hasn't is because the unions don't want a legal temporary worker program.

And they know that none of us will support any reform unless it has a temporary worker program in it. And by the way, I'd be glad to go into the details on how it is very workable to make sure that people don't stay here.

Obviously I visited the border on several occasions, and at that time, it became clear that we didn't have sufficient forces on the border.

My view is you need a physical fence.

"In the long term, if you alienate the Hispanics,
you’ll pay a heavy price. By the way,
I think the fence is least effective.
But I’ll build the G****mned fence if they want it!"

U.S. SEN. JOHN MCCAIN, FEB. 2007

So he was against the fence before he was for it?

AS much as I’d like to protect our border, a fence will do nothing if we don’t have politicians and laws that will actually ENFORCE the laws we have against illegal immigration.

The McCains are such liars that their Mexican maid has to call the family dog in for his bowl of kibbles.

...issue of the 12 million people who are still in this country illegally.

12 million, hah! This number has been used for the last 5 years. It's a good thing no more illegals have come here for five years now.

Specifically, does he want the Hunter double border fence with a patrol road in between? Hell no

THE FENCE: Needs to be at least 10 foot high.

Barbed WIRED AT THE TOP as are prisons

ELECTRIFIED

On the U.S. side, build a MOAT, the moat needs to be at least 15 to 20 ft deep, to keep them from digging tunnels

Put alligators in the MOAT, EELS whatever

or run dogs, PIT BULLS,MASTIFFS, MEAN DOGS or BOARS to keep MUSLIMS OUT.

Build a second fence the same as the first.

I think this is the perfect FENCE on the BORDER.

I believe Sarah Palin had a lot to do with his change of heart about illegals. Perhaps that was one of her criteria to campaign for him.

No, that would be one J.D. Hayworth.

(And his "change of heart" is totally artificial and made up just for this one campaign.)

Palin, on the other hand, supports the McCainian take on immigration: "not total amnesty."

RE :”I don't know what ... American public opinion will take.

McCain is waiting for public opinion to direct him?? For a Guest worker program? With 10% unemployment?

Today on CSPAN they had a panel of labor organizers who said that if successful illegals are the next wave of union workers and social justice protestors to demand stuff from the federal government.

Yeah, YOU have details??? Why haven’t you EVER tried to do this before, John??

Does anyone believe this liar any more????

We don’t need ANOTHER temp worker program...a couple million are brought in now on ‘temp worker’ programs and we have NO idea where they are...well, some Mexicans with green cards are growing dope in our national forests.

[snip]A day earlier, in Milwaukee, in front of an audience of more sympathetic businessmen, McCain had been asked how debate over the immigration bill was playing politically. “In the short term, it probably galvanizes our base,” he said. “In the long term, if you alienate the Hispanics, you’ll pay a heavy price.” Then he added, unable to help himself, “By the way, I think the fence is least effective. But I’ll build the goddamned fence if they want it.”

McCain wants a border fence with a “path to citizenship” cut right through the middle of it.

“I believe Sarah Palin had a lot to do with his change of heart about illegals. Perhaps that was one of her criteria to campaign for him.”

McCain has had no ‘change of heart’. He lies. Sarah supports his immigration (amnesty...er...as they say ‘path to legalization) position.

Just the other day he told this whopper:

“President Reagan granted amnesty to two million people and that was wrong,” McCain said.

My idea of a temporary guest worker program would make the companies agree to be completely legally responsible for the guest workers while in the US, including their health care and any kids they have born here. That would be a ‘level playing field’ with americans. Right now we pay for them, companies get the cheap labor.

Even slaveowners held the responsibility for the health, feeding, housing of slaves. These modern corporate slavers have USA tax payers to carry that burden.
