Today, Rep. Bart Stupak understands what our group's polling revealed: a vote for Obama's health care bill was a vote against the will of his constituents. Yet he chose to do it anyway and now he is suffering the consequences.
In the final hours of the health care debate, Americans across the country were deeply saddened when Rep. Stupak (D-Mich.) and a handful of pro-life Democrats buckled under White House pressure and voted for legislation that will lead to the largest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade.
Their cover was a fig leaf -- an Executive Order signed by President Obama that addresses none of the authentic pro-life concerns of the American people. Rather than stand up for the pro-Life American majority Stupak and his gang caved.
Before his fateful vote, Rep. Stupak had been a national pro-Life leader who championed the unborn and their mothers. The Susan B. Anthony List had even planned to honor him with our Defender of Life award. The decision to leave office makes it clear that, finally, Stupak understands: Votes have consequences.
In the days leading up to the health care vote our polling in the first district of Michigan showed that 78 percent of Stupaks constituents said they opposed taxpayer funding of abortion. Stupak understands now what the polling revealed: a vote for that bill was a vote against the will of his constituents. Yet he chose to do it and now he is suffering the consequences.
Earlier this week the Susan B. Anthony List launched a grassroots campaign of radio and automated phone calls in the districts of pro-life Democrats, including Rep. Stupak, who voted Yes on the health care bill to inform their constituents that their representatives vote for the bill was a vote for taxpayer funding of abortion.

That will turn out to have been an illusion, too. If he obtains anything of value from the federal government, other than the pension (that should be stripped from him, too), he will be hounded to the ends of the Earth.
Technically speaking, there's 250 Rats in the House AND 49 more Rats and Indy's in the Senate to go!
Oh yes, I forgot.
Among the first to become homeless and be forced to move to Cuba or Venezuela, one would hope would be the poster boy of American perverts, that arrogant delusional lying bastard, Bawney Fwank.
Just saying.
50-60 democrats in the House are going to lose in 2010.
“One down, 250 to go.”
Stupak is the canary in the coalmine.
A yellow bird turncoat.
Stupac, in his idiotic opus before exit left, stated he wants to be with "his wife". Rush pointed out these pols usually say they want to spend more time with "their family".
Actually, neither one is a stay-at-home-before-the-fireplace-nestling-with-spouse type of person.
He's been a member of the House in Washington for 18 years and she's been the mayor of Menonimee and an unsuccessful candidate for the Michigan House of Representatives.
Stupak's two male babies were actually allowed to be born. One is out of college and living in California, the other committed suicide.
I'd like to have a conversation with the congressman about what his true views of human life are, but he'll probably be too busy nestling in front of the fireplace with his wife......if she's home.
Hypocrite, liar and weakling.

If his plan was to vote for this anyway, then why all the theatrics? I dont think I am close to getting an answer on that. I just dont get it.
My bet is that Obama promised him something...I doubt it is because he knows he would lose an electionDING! DING! DING! WE HAVE A WINNER!
His resignation is the first step to his Obama payoff.
I think he sold out to Obama much earlier, and this was just “political cover” for the whore Stupak.
If there is any justice he will not see peace of mind again for a long time.
What does Stupak suffer? Is he not permitted to move far away and start anew with a fat pension and retirement that atarts immediately? Has he traded his membership in Congress for perks not yet revealed?
Just as John McCain said in an interview with Chris Wallace during the 2008 campaign when asked how what he would do if he lost, McCain responded in effect "My life is so blessed...I'll be fine, my family will be fine, either way I will be happy"
Doesn't that statement reveal what is going on?
The pols in Washington are bought and paid for. Our votes do not matter on so many levels. Our votes cannot compete against the graft and payoffs of that world. We can change the person but we can't change the culture there....unless
....unless we get ourselves informed. If as scientists we can observe and identify clearly what it is that 'finances' the corruption, then we can discuss how to 'treat' the disease of this corruption. It is treatable but millions of us have to come to an understanding and agreement on what the causes of the disease are, and what is the best treatment.
I have my conclusions.
But the disease of pols and their culture of corruption spreads because we are kept uninformed, disrupted, distracted and in a state of disarray and disunity. Except now maybe we have a fledgling unity under the Tea Party banner. We can be certain that the pol powers will try to dissolve this unity no matter what the cost.
That’s what I’m afraid of.
Sounds like Star Wars, only for real.
“At least the survivors...”
Amen brother or sister!!!

This traitor NEVER intended to vote against the DeathCare Bill. Everything he said and did was a flat out lie.
“HE BETRAYED US. HE PLAYED ON OUR FEARS.”
“I AM SICK AND TIRED OF PEOPLE WHO SAY THAT IF YOU DEBATE AND DISAGREE WITH THIS ADMINISTRATION, SOMEHOW YOU’RE NOT PATRIOTIC. WE NEED TO STAND UP AND SAY WE’RE AMERICANS, AND WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEBATE AND DISAGREE WITH ANY ADMINISTRATION.”
My question is WOULD the Congress or the SCOTUS overturn them?
