Bob Schieffer predicts that Newt Gingrich will make a run for the presidency and Sara Palin wont.
Appearing on The Early Show today, Schieffer saw Palins resignation as Alaska governor as too big of a political obstacle in the primaries. Heres how the Face The Nation host imagined a GOP primary opponent putting it to Palin in a debate:

Schieffer says Sarah’s resignation as Alaska guv too big of an obstacle to running for GOP prez nomination. Ping to Today show list.
However, I think she knows this and has no plans to run.
She may be better suited to keeping the left distracted and constantly aghast while another candidate comes out of "nowhere" to clean the anointed one's clock.
Bob Schieffer doesn’t have much of a record of accurate political predictions.
I predicet that Sarah will 1st run for the next open Alaska seat for U.S. Senate.
If Bob Scheiffer said it well then it must be true.
Palin 2012
Whatever Sarah decides, I support her.
palin/BACHMANN 2012
What, the crap? And then look at Edwards and see what causes people to stop.
The good news is the lame stream media is not going to pick Republican’s candidates anymore.
Whatever Sarah decides, I support her.
Count me in !!!!
This is just Schieffer’s opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.
i can’t believe Gingrich would run, or be a serious candidate.
I don’t know if Palin will run or not, but we better be prepared for her NOT to run, so we don’t end up like 2008 with conservatives splitting up our support across three different candidates, allowing McCain to win.
I can think of reasons Palin might choose to wait, including that she is making lots of money and enjoying her position as a populist speaker, or that she loves her son and wouldn’t want to lose two years of her life with him in a full-time campaign for the Presidency.
I don’t see the resignation as killing her chances, although having the extra experience as Governor would have helped, if she had been able to get that and still had the time to do what she is doing now, which obviously she wouldn’t have been able to do.
Palin would actually be better off if Obama moved to the center and became popular again — if it didn’t seem likely Obama could be beaten in 2012, she’d be ready to run in 2016, against whoever knocked off Biden for the Democratic ticket (I can’t imagine a world in which Biden was able to win a Democratic nomination for President).
Schieffer is missing the point that Palin would be expecting such a question and would have a response ready to go.
Fact is, the last thing any of her competitors would want to do is remind the voters of the cr*p she had to endure at the hands of Soros-funded activists and the media.
Yes let’s have the left tell us our only fighter is not eligible because she resigned to fight them on the main stage and refused to be pigeon holed off off off Broadway. That’s like telling Patton he can’t win the War!
Newt ??? Yikes!
Sarah’s biggest obstacle to running is her endorsement and campaigning for McCain, not her resignation from the Governor’s office.
I think Newt is in his sweet spot and where he needs to be functioning as a conservative ombudsman. Concerning Sarah, I supported the McCain/Palin ticket the previous go round but I don't think she can carry the ball across the goal line as the next GOP presidential candidate. However,I do like the idea posted earlier in this string about her running for senate in Alaska. She would certainly stir the place up.
I completely agree. The dems are so hot to put a name on the Republican candidates, so they can begin planning their attacks.
That’s why it makes them crazy that there is not A LEADER of the Tea Party. They want a target and as long as we can keep them flailing away at windmills, we will be kept entertained and they will be wasting money. Lots of it, I hope. And if most of it is Soros’ money, all the better.
Sadly, I believe the next AK Senate seat is in R hands already. The Dem who is seated just beat the sleazy R so the D will be there for a while.
Not!
