The British military has apologised for offending a Muslim group by using structures resembling mosques at a target range.
The military says it did not intend for the structures to look like mosques and that the structures were not actually being fired on.
The Bradford Council for Mosques is calling for the immediate removal of the structures at the Bellerby firing range at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, 400km north of London.
The group's chief executive, Mohammed Saleem Khan, says it is obvious the structures look like mosques.
Military officials said on Thursday they want to meet with the Muslim group to explain that no offence was intended. Officials have not said whether the structures will be removed.

What a pi**-poor way to apologize to the very same Muslims taking over the once-Great Britain. Apologize, apologize, apologize.
The U.S. Army was once gung-ho on shooting up mosques. I'd wished we were too, instead of apologizing to savage Muzzies.
"I'm sorry! So sorry!"
They should be used as target ranges. Has any Muslim group apoligised for 911 or riots in France or bombings in Spain? Not to mention subway attacks in England. I don't think so.
In Reagan's time, we'd be laughing with glee.
I wonder what the reaction would be if they were shooting at targets shaped like Christian churches?
They should explain that they are not Mosques, but pedophile bunkers.
I feel sorry...for the UK Army apologizing. Then again the last sentence was amusing: that there is no word if they will NOT shoot the “mosques” again...
I think using fake mosques is a great idea. Better yet- put figures of Mohammed in front of them. Bet scores go way up!
I wonder if the muslims would apologize if they were caught target practicing on a building that looks like Windsor Castle.
Sounds like an opportunity for some gunnery practice. Or maybe bombing practice.
They need a good human target to shoot at too!
Why the Steyr AUG photo? The British don’t use it.
Probably a factual error. I know the Australian Army uses it in their regular units.
Actually the apology is probably a reverse insult. Such structures on firing ranges are usually erected as “no-fire” areas to train marksmanship, so that soldiers learn to avoid firing on the mosques. By removing them, they increase the likelihood of mosques being targeted on the battlefield, because the soldiers have not been trained during live fire not to target them. Oh Well. We must comply with Muslim demands.
I KNEW someone would come up with a good Counterstrike pic for the occasion! :-)
