Glenn Beck: ‘Mitt Romney Could Be The Only Guy That Could Win’ In 2012
Mediate.com ^ | April 8th, 2010 | Frances Martel

Posted on 04/08/2010 2:32:54 PM PDT by iowamark

Glenn Beck and radio pals Pat Gray and Stu Burguiere rattled down the list of potential Republican nominees for President in 2012 this morning, and they had some bad news for the Tea Party movement: Sarah Palin probably won’t run, Ron Paul is still and long shot, and Mitt Romney, as of now, is the GOP’s best bet.

While Gray and Burguiere are harsh to most of the candidates, Beck spreads the love around. He tells his co-hosts that he likes Palin but doesn’t think she will run, Bobby Jindal but doesn’t think he has the charisma, and Congressman Paul but doesn’t think America is ready for him. Then, at the bottom of the pile, he finds Mitt Romney:

"I have to tell you that Mitt Romney could be the only guy that could win, and I don’t know if he could because I think that Americans are going to be I mean, this country is going to be in deep trouble by 2012, and the next term, if it’s not decided this term, the next term will decide our fate. Then I hope that Americans are ready for an adult and are ready for hard news."

It’s a strange, possibly sad conclusion from someone who had called Romney out for “flirting with socialism,” but ultimately Beck was trying to determine who could win, not who he thought should. If Beck was playing process of elimination, which he clearly was, it’s hard to refute his conclusion that Romney is the least likely candidate to crash and burn in a general election, if only for being a conservative from the most liberal state of America and having moderate successes like universal health care under his belt. Or– and this one is for you conspiracy theorists out there– maybe Beck is intentionally downplaying the Republican candidates’ ability to success so as to clear the brush and become the reluctant right-wing candidate by default. After all, he is the second-most popular human being in America. (Link to a Harris poll: Glenn Beck is the second most popular television personality in America… second only to Oprah Winfrey.)

Hi!:)
And for everyone’s info natural born means born in this country. It doesn’t matter where your parents are from. America doesn’t have dual citizenship.

Me too. He lost me a month or so ago. His ratings are going to begin to tank. He’s pissing off the people that gave him those ratings.

Beck and Romney are mormons. They are severely confused. We live in a predominantly Christian Nation; always have been that way, always will be that way. It is the only way. (Obviously).

Beck and Romney are cracked at their foundations. Granted, Beck says much good, but he is cracked at his foundation, and Romney? lol, he isn't even a longshot electable possibility. There's NO way Republicans would elect any mormon from the mormon Cult. Let's get real.

In an earlier reply, I asked your accuser to provide me with just one link on any thread at F.R. about anyone who hates mormons, so far, no evidence presented.

And I'm sure that's still the case since there is no evidence to be found.

While mormon haters are rare or more likely non existent here, there are numerous posters who like to throw around the words "hate', "hater" and "bigot", it's their answer to facts presented to them from their own literature.

Yes, the Ron Paul Cult is real big on that as well. All of us who don't agree with Ron Paul are "Paul haters." Hey, I'm a Christian. I don't hate kooky moonbats. I just disdain them. ;-)

The dictionary for one, six years of civic class for seconds and thirdly court cases.

"I think a Romney-Palin or Palin-Romney ticket would be great. They both make up for what the other lacks."

LOL! There is no possibility for that. Think Liz Cheney and Michelle Bachmann. I do like Sarah, too......but she has some splainin' to do with the McCain backing.

Romney has less than zero chance. But the sign-making people can make some good coin off of him until his failed Presidential run finally implodes. Mitt Romney is a phony beyond belief. And he's a mormon. Bu-Bye to politics!

With apologies to your ‘civics’ teachers and the modern lay dictionary, neither was a source at the time the Constitution was written.

Legal cases, not ‘blogs’. Westlaw is our friend.

Where did you get YOUR law degree, a cracker jack box?

And for the record, I do not think Zero is ‘natural born’.

Sorry got side tracked by a latte. What court cases? How about Dread Scott v. Sandford. There is also the Slaughterhouse Cases as well as United States v. Kim Wong Ark. And the little thing they call the 14th Amendment.

Neither were blogs. Also the Constitution provides a ‘grandfather clause’ that no longer applies.

Legal precedence for starters...

Dred Scott v. Sandford,

Minor v. Happersett,

Perkins v. Elg

Schneider v. Rusk

United States v. Wong Kim Ark

Those cases have to do with citizenship, not natural born citizenship, and the 14th Amendment is simply equal protection for citizens not being denied by States.
