Glenn Beck: ‘Mitt Romney Could Be The Only Guy That Could Win’ In 2012
Mediate.com ^ | April 8th, 2010 | Frances Martel

Glenn Beck and radio pals Pat Gray and Stu Burguiere rattled down the list of potential Republican nominees for President in 2012 this morning, and they had some bad news for the Tea Party movement: Sarah Palin probably won’t run, Ron Paul is still and long shot, and Mitt Romney, as of now, is the GOP’s best bet.

While Gray and Burguiere are harsh to most of the candidates, Beck spreads the love around. He tells his co-hosts that he likes Palin but doesn’t think she will run, Bobby Jindal but doesn’t think he has the charisma, and Congressman Paul but doesn’t think America is ready for him. Then, at the bottom of the pile, he finds Mitt Romney:

"I have to tell you that Mitt Romney could be the only guy that could win, and I don’t know if he could because I think that Americans are going to be I mean, this country is going to be in deep trouble by 2012, and the next term, if it’s not decided this term, the next term will decide our fate. Then I hope that Americans are ready for an adult and are ready for hard news."

It’s a strange, possibly sad conclusion from someone who had called Romney out for “flirting with socialism,” but ultimately Beck was trying to determine who could win, not who he thought should. If Beck was playing process of elimination, which he clearly was, it’s hard to refute his conclusion that Romney is the least likely candidate to crash and burn in a general election, if only for being a conservative from the most liberal state of America and having moderate successes like universal health care under his belt. Or– and this one is for you conspiracy theorists out there– maybe Beck is intentionally downplaying the Republican candidates’ ability to success so as to clear the brush and become the reluctant right-wing candidate by default. After all, he is the second-most popular human being in America. (Link to a Harris poll: Glenn Beck is the second most popular television personality in America… second only to Oprah Winfrey.)

Glenn Beck is false opposition, that is why the left always mentions him and not Michael Savage. Savage has the guts to mention the eligibility issue, unlike the Beck the Saudi puppet.

Every member of Congress from Utah has something in common (besides being male). Can you guess what that might be. Hint: They are NOT all Republicans.

Go back to posting screechy CAPSLOCK directives at people, replete with lots of exclamation points so that they'll look like "solid facts." {snicker!}

The left will drag out the LDS institutional racism until 1978 as a major topic in the campaign. Count on it.

I never thought of that

A Bishop leader from the racist days of his Mormon religion, still one of the most powerful men in his religion, supported by 90% of the practioners of the Mormon religion, running to take down America's first black President.

That would definitely become a story.

Since I was right about health care passing (back in August of 2009), I'll wade in on this:

The GOP candidate in 2012 is not yet on the national radar, much the way Obama was not at this point in 2006.

I don’t watch him all the time, but I have seen some shows of his that were excellent.

A few weeks back he spent an hour explaining what others who have ruled like Obama seems to want to, have done.

The show was called something close to, “The Holocaust You’ve Never Heard Of”

In that show he covered those killed by the U.S.S.R., China, and others... last century. It would be a real eye opener to kids who haven’t been told about these things.

If we can’t do any better than Romney, we might as well give up.

Unless Sarah runs with him, I won't vote for him, either. Romney just won't get my vote, just like McCain.

The GOP needs to do better or disban.

Back in 2007 I made a list of the Republican candidates in the order of how well I liked them--Duncan Hunter was #1 although he was obviously going nowhere. McCain was #7, ahead of only two others--Mitt Romney and Ron Paul.

The only way Romney wins the nomination is if he's the only candidate, or has only Ron Paul-caliber opponents in the primaries.

Beck was mentioning on his show tonight (one of the best hours of television ever on the Founders) that many of the Founders had to be dragged kicking and screaming into serving their country. Although reluctant; they did their duty to their country. Maybe that will be how Sarah comes to power...reluctantly; but understanding that she must do it to help her country.

We'll see...I certainly do not support Romney, but we need to get someone else on the radar screen, and fast.

“”””Just a Mormon trying to sell us another Mormon”””, you nailed that one exactly right.

Gov Palin. What do mean Romney has tech and strength to win? He spent millions of his own money (because people were not contributing) and could not win the primary (not even close). Now why would he be successful this time? (psss he is a damned liberal)

.....you cant convince the hate Mormon crowd of anything. They think a vote for the huckster is a vote for Jesus and a vote for Romney is a vote for the Devil.

I detest mormonism and I detest liberalism, the liberalism part pretty much covers Romney.

Convince me by citing a reply anywhere at F.R. on any thread, that someone hates Mormons.

I like Jindal because he shares my belief system (and to my knowledge thus far, he is True to his faith),

That is one of the reasons that I like Jindal, I think that he is a good and conservative Catholic. I don't know when Jindal's time will come, but it won't be anytime soon, although as a veep, (which will probably be his route) he could be on a ticket at any time.
