San Francisco Makes Monday "Vegetarian Day"
NBC Bay Area ^
Posted on 04/08/2010 12:20:19 PM PDT by nickcarraway
In another legislative moment that feels oh-so-very San Francisco, the Board of Supervisors voted yesterday on a resolution to declare Mondays in San Francisco as "Vegetarian Day."
A call to the Board this morning confirms the resolution was, in fact, approved yesterday by majority vote and will now sit on The Gav's desk for ten days, awaiting "official approval by the mayor."
Resolution No. 28 was brought to the table by Sophie Maxwell, who has been a vegetarian for 35 years. If you care to read it, do click here.
While the wording sites many good reasons to "go green," such as reducing carbon emissions and potentially reduced medical costs, we wish they'd picked another day besides Monday, which is already bad enough, isn't it?
What about Wednesday a.k.a. hump day, or any other day of the week, for that matter? Regardless, the fate of Mondays from 4/19 into perpetuity will be decided by the 16th.

No meat on Fridays was a Catholic custom.
So I guess this veggie only day is a religious thing too, a sort of green God thing.

There is a surtax on restaurants in SF now. Wonder if this resolution will be used to punish meat eaters on Mondays.

There’s a critical word misspelled in that headline:
It’s VAGITARIAN.

we wish they'd picked another day besides Monday, which is already bad enough, isn't it? Why should anyone care what day the lib loons pick? If you like meat, just make a point to more of it on Mondays.

What happens to you if you eat meat on Monday? Does the Food Police come for you?
To: Doogle
Then Tuesday could be no cigarette smoking day, or in British parlance, “no smoking a f...”, well, you can figure it out.
