One of the most impassioned speeches I have ever heard was from a Lieutenant Colonel who was redeploying from Iraq to his home station. I sat in awe as he explained that the US military is the only military in the world that swears an oath not to a person or country but an idea articulated in the document that is the US Constitution. They pledge their very lives to the defense of that idea.
Really? Tell that to people like Michael New and Ehren Watada.
