I’ve been reading this thread... Actually did start a new little list but don’t have it handy.

Some people have an attitude of superiority that they like to display when others are seriously concerned about an issue, especially a dead serious issue like this one. They’re too sophisticated/realistic/seen it all done it all/ etc to be sincerely concerned and they like to sneer at others.

There’s one guy posting lately with the screen name “world weary” and he is a bona fide troll. Screen name says it all.

I didn’t get my first PC until 1998. Prior to that I didn’t even know how to click a mouse, lol.

My friend hooked up the PC for me and gave me a tutorial on using it. He explained the 1010101 thing and I still find the whole thing utterly amazing.

BTW, that webb guy IS a birther (by his own words he typed) by clear definition.

PS- the best info my friend gave me about PC functions: there is always more than one way to complete a particular function. Always.

It is the single wisest investment Team Obama will ever make. The "Birth Certificate" tizzy has completely discombobulated the considerable number of Americans (including myself) who feel that Obama is constitutionally ineligible, no matter where he was born. Team Obama has pulled off a Great Diversion, a Mass Hypnosis, a Complete Trompe l'Oeil; managing adroitly to delay the hearing on the real issue over the last two years, putting it off until (a) they can stack the SCOTUS a bit, and(b) Obama's Term is over, or very nearly so.

Poor (no, make that idiotic) lawyering has handed Team Obama an impressive list of decisions in their favor, jeopardized the chance of success of the real lawyers working on the real cases, and had the sad result of making anyone concerned with the issue, including me, look like a nut.

If Team Obama isn't already paying those identified as "Birther" lawyers, they ought to be. As far as I know, not 1 (one) lawsuit is underway in Hawaii to force a state agency to obey state law and release the documentation they may have in support of the many outrageous statements they have made.

It would seem logical to go where the desired paperwork is, and ask for it, especially since there is a statutorily defined legal right mandating its release.

That assertion has been made twice, once in 1790 in the Nationality Act of 1790, repealed in 1795, and in February of 2008 when Clair McCaskill sponsored a bill S.2678 to make children of military natural born citizens. It never left the Senate, in spite of attracting as its second sponsor, Barack Obama, and then Tom Coburn. Eventually, Hillary, and Menendez joined as cosponsors. It seems pretty clear that they wanted to face Obama and needed to provide cover for his jus soli problem. It is unfortunately a fact that McCain was well funded by Soros proxies, and distinguished himself as a friend of the left with McCain Feingold, his attempt to block Bush tax cuts and his open border policies.

It is an appealing sentiment, but not law. The McCaskill bill couldn't have modified the Constitution, but might have become and amendment if support seemed particularly strong. Her bill differed from the 1790 Act in not including the children of diplomats. Natural born citizenship was to protect the republic.

One could imagine a scenario of a child born overseas, spending many of his formative years in another society. Allegiance might not be so clear after after five or ten years stationed in Turkey or Indonesia. There is no right to the presidency. The framers intended to discriminate. A fragile nation based upon allegiance and ideas was being built.

When the Supreme Court declares a law to be unconsituttional, they don't repeal, just, in effect, order all lower courts not to enforce it. It's as if it never existed.

Interesting point. Let's say that there are a number of cases that have been resolved in lower courts based on an understood interpretation, and that suddenly, the SCOTUS hears an appeal and decides that the formerly operative interpretation needs to be changed.

All of those who had been adversely affected by the former, now "wrong," interpretation aren't immediately made whole. IOW, if they lost $1Million because of it, they don't automatically get that money back ... they get to hire more lawyers, go back to court, and litigate for the return of what in logical effect is rightfully their money. And guess what, Gato, they could still lose!
