"Tea party" conservatives have captured the political momentum so far this year in Republican primaries nationwide. In Florida, for example, the sitting governor, Charlie Crist, has fallen well behind a tea party favorite, Marco Rubio, in the race for a U.S. Senate seat. But in California, the closest thing to a tea party candidate, Orange County Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, has languished in distant third place in the running for the GOP nomination to challenge Sen. Barbara Boxer, a Democrat.

What DeVore and the Tea Party needs to do to win against establishment Republicans is to run against California's problems. Tom Campbell did such a great job as Director of Finance under Gov Schwarzenegger that he thinks he needs to go to the Senate? What arrogance.

DeVore has one problem and that is he need to emulate Rubio. He needs to attack the current Republican Gov and Tom Campbell's association with it. He needs to cast himself as an advocate of restraining government because it is clearly out of control not just in California but across the nation. People are hurting and the two big money candidates are proposing just more of the same old politics that have pushed California and the nation to the brink of total collapse. DeVore can win in California but you have to tap into the basic case which is their for all to see otherwise you end up with the same old politics which is just a sure slide into a socialist tyrannical nightmare world where America as we have known it is no more.

Not all of CA—just San Fran and LA. Kind of like labeling all of NY based on the drivel that comes out of NYC, or all of MA on Beacon Hill.

They believe Zer0 will bail them out with more free money.

Which is actually their only chance...

You're right - he needs to become young, handsome, and articulate. :)

Last April - with NO media tips or coverage - well over 2000 of us showed up at Palm Desert Civic Center Park for our rally.....so we’ve not totally hit the dark side, at least not in these parts.

Yeah what he needs to do is play to the conservatives ( at least fiscal conservatives) in the Bay Area and LA and then hammer hard on Central Valley issues re: water and farming. If he does that he has a chance but he has some problems that may be insurmountable: a) lack of money; b) lack of money; c)lack of money

I'd say he is more articulate then Rubio is, and a heck of a lot more accomplished too. Did you see him on Beck when Beck was in California?

I keep arguing with people from California who insist California has the highest population of conservatives in the US.

I rest my case....
