I don't know for certain, but I think you have exceptions in most of the Caribbean islands....where you don't hear about a lot of violence against whites, who are a small minority living there.
The problem is, we take generations of education, religion and culture found in white societies for granted--when our ancestors were barbarians once too--a thousand and more years ago. Also, people have abandoned the Calvinist suspicion of human nature--which made the Founders create a Republic...NOT a Democracy.
Today it seems, if relatively "free" elections are done, a country is considered a "free country." We ignore Benjamin Franklin's warning that "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb deciding what is for dinner..." The rights of all minorities....regardless of their past of "oppression" must be protected, and rule of law maintained.... or elections are just a sham for real oppression and anarchy.
Probably someone else's warning. - link

I've only been to two. In the Cayman islands I felt safe everywhere. There were no black people or white people, there were just people. We had good conversations with lots of different people of all colors.
In Jamaica I felt unsafe almost everywhere. We did get out to the street markets and tried to get off the beaten path a little but there was no where near the 'comfort level' that I had in Caymans.
I have heard that the Bahama's are pretty similar to the Caymans. Apparently some of these islands are more civilized than others.

Excellent point. As I said before, Africa was not ready for the colonies to be self governing. They did not have the traditions of freedom ingrained into them yet and quickly reverted back to tribalism. Also, people have abandoned the Calvinist suspicion of human nature--which made the Founders create a Republic...NOT a Democracy.
Again I agree. But I would have said "Christian" instead of "Calvinist". The bible says we are evil (Yes j-damn, you too).
