Obama isn’t a phony, but the genuine article where it counts most—he is precisely what leftists want in a president of the US, someone who talks in vague feelgood blather while carefully putting into place legislative landmines which will cause the most damage down the line, when government will have to take over larger sectors of the economy in order to “help people.”

Usually, when a politician is able to adjust their style of speaking to a variety of audiences, it is considered a sign that they are a good politician, not necessarily that they are being phony. For instance, the fact that New York mayor La Guardia was able to talk to various ethnic groups and even use the correct hand gestures with each group, is often mentioned as evidence of what a great communicator he was.

I don’t see this is a big deal. Using a slightly different communication style when speaking to different audiences is probably just smart.
What gets me is when politicians say completely different things to different audiences. Or say things they don’t really mean, or promise things they don’t intend to keep. Say for example, promising transparency, then not revealing your own records.

Are there any videos on YouTube posted that shows him speaking with these various dialects of English? If not, maybe a FReeper with some extra time on his/her hands could make one up and post it.

I posted this in another thread;
Just had a horrible, racist sounding thought;
His followers let this guy bloviate and lie like a used car salesman because thats what they expect a black man to do.
he just talkin smack cause thats just what they do.
Just another reason I say he is our first affirmative action president. We cant let him fail, we must change the rules and the standards so he will fit in.

how he changes "dialects" depending on the audience he's talking to: Al Gore did it all the time, nothing new here.

Interesting that the post would pick Gwen Ifill, whose credibiliy suffered a serious blow during Obama's 2008 campaign when, after being picked as a "neutral" moderator of one of the debates, it turned out she had a book entitled:
The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama due to be released to coincide with the inauguration in 2009.
Not that she had any opinion on who should be elected. Yeah, right! This is a liberal's view of "objective"!

"The fact that I conjugate my verbs and speak in a typical Midwestern newscaster's voice -- there's no doubt that this helps ease communication between myself and white audiences," he tells Remnick. Did he actually mean that blacks don't conjugate verbs? Isn't that racist?

Statement: "Even Obama fans notice he's a phony in how he writes, talks, and even walks"
Response: He is an actor, playing President.
Comment: Surely by now people should have noticed the interplay between Hollywood and politics.
