How phony is Barack Obama? PBS Washington Week host Gwen Ifill reviewed New Yorker editor David Remnick's new Obama book The Bridge in the Washington Post Outlook section Sunday, and she kept finding Obama is a Slick Barry, a "shape shifter." Obama even admitted to rhetoric what should be obvious -- how he changes "dialects" depending on the audience he's talking to:
Obama cops to this. "The fact that I conjugate my verbs and speak in a typical Midwestern newscaster's voice -- there's no doubt that this helps ease communication between myself and white audiences," he tells Remnick."And there's no doubt that when I'm with a black audience I slip into a slightly different dialect. But the point is, I don't feel the need to speak a certain way in front of a black audience. There's a level of self-consciousness about these issues the previous generation had to negotiate that I don't feel I have to."

Usually, when a politician is able to adjust their style of speaking to a variety of audiences, it is considered a sign that they are a good politician, not necessarily that they are being phony. For instance, the fact that New York mayor La Guardia was able to talk to various ethnic groups and even use the correct hand gestures with each group, is often mentioned as evidence of what a great communicator he was.
Or better yet, just chuck a shoe at him. Non verbal and easily understood by a muzzie.
He was raised by whites in a foreign country. What authentic connection would he have with American blacks?
He calls everything ‘investments’, ‘job bills’ , and ‘deficit reduction’. But as the economy and debt get worse and worse he just claims it would have even been worse without him.
On MSNBC they are talking about Obama talking not about the current state of the economy, but him telling us about positive changes over time. The word they used is trajectory. Seems like the debt trajectory is running us off a cliff. That is why the ‘talk’ is not working.
I loved that movie. I think I liked it so much because I never managed to finish reading “Moby Dick”.
People when polled about their own current medical coverage were overwhelmingly HAPPY with their current system.
If they’d been told that their insurance would also be “reformed”, there would have been less support.
Anyone ever happy when they hear that their department is being restructured/reorg-ed at work?
Two dollar bills are for whores.
He’s as phony as a three dollar bill.
Late to the party but they are welcome to endorse the truth about this VILE cretin.
“Maybe Obama needs to explain it to you a few more times. You know how smart he is. “
Average intelligence(at best)
Criminal thug street brains
Zero common sense.
You give him two much credit!
RE :”If theyd been told that their insurance would also be reformed, there would have been less support.”
Actually I remember him claiming our Health Insurance rates will skyrocket if he doesnt get a bill passed, but if one of his HR bills gets passed then they wont go up as much as they would if it wasnt passed. Remind you of anything? (Hint :Economic recovery bill and unemployment.)
Does this mean he don’t be conjugating verbs when talking to blacks?
He got mad when FNC Brett Baer wouldnt sit through his lectures and kept on going back to the questions Obama was avoiding answering.
If you dont understand that Obama is doing good, it’s because he hasnt explained it to you enough times ( we are just slow.)
How about the unemployment in the AA areas reaching 20% ? You think they understand better than us?
A two dollar bill is phony? No, they are real. As phony as a three dollar bill is the saying.
“...and I know how to talk to the press corpse.”
I don’t see this is a big deal. Using a slightly different communication style when speaking to different audiences is probably just smart.
What gets me is when politicians say completely different things to different audiences. Or say things they don’t really mean, or promise things they don’t intend to keep. Say for example, promising transparency, then not revealing your own records.
