Very Cool...I’m visiting my parents in FL right now and they only live a few miles from the beach. We just decided to get up at 5:30 and drive down to see the launch. I live WAY inland and much farther north so this will be a chance I wouldn’t normally have. Just in time too because we are driving home tomorrow.
This is likely to be the final nighttime launch.
Only 3 more launches after tomorrow (May 14, July 29, Sept 16).

The astronauts are just finishing getting suited up in their Launch & Entry suits. They aren’t too far away from going on the walk to the AstroVan and the ride out to the pad.
There is a concern with weather for a Return To Launch Site capability. Cross your fingers and hope they don’t scrub.
My trip is already booked for the final Shuttle launch in September...

Just watched the launch from Lakeland. Came back in and the shuttle was still visible in the nothern sky. Awesome launch!!!!
Just opened my front door a few minutes ago and watched the shuttle go up. (I’m 50 miles away in Orlando). Beautiful!

Our family went into our back yard and saw the shuttle rising into the heavens. Spectacular sight.
Ku-band antenna isn’t working. Guess they’ll be restricted to the lower-volume S-band for awhile longer.
I viewed the launch from the beach on Hilton Head Island. I could track it from horizon to horizon in the pre-dawn light.
Quite impressive.
