Dear Lord Please Don't Let Me Frak Up!!
SRB Sep, and continuing on....
Even the most hardened cynic like myself cannot suppress a chest-swelling surge of pride during such events...
21 mile alt, 22 mile down-range.
2-engine TOW.
Negative Return, Discovery unable to go back to KSC, continuing on. All looking good....
A few lighting bugs floating around the LFT mounting hardware.
press to MECO
Just watched the launch from Lakeland. Came back in and the shuttle was still visible in the nothern sky. Awesome launch!!!!
It was a BEAUTIFUL launch from here in Seminole County!
Are you up yet?
Looks like some serious foam loss around the right wing to me.
Just opened my front door a few minutes ago and watched the shuttle go up. (I’m 50 miles away in Orlando). Beautiful!
Bro in law worked on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral LONG LONG time ago. We’ve seen many a launch and it still takes my breath away to think about our exceptionalism.
This is the first night time launch I’ve seen and am enjoying every moment.
Of course, watching on TV isn’t the same as being there, but it’s awesome awesome.
That is so cool looiking at the flame trail silhouetted against the blue earth.
Whole swarm of lightning bugs let loose during separation.
More stuff floating away at EFT separation.
I don’t like it.
Looks like the commies are jammin’ the signal now.
And we have MECO, ET Sep, and LOS of the tank camera. Discovery is on the way to orbit.
It was an EXCELLENT launch, major kudos to the KSC Launch Team!
Now I have to decide if I’m going to stay up and make some coffee or go back to bed.
Sounds like they drained the MEFT just about dry.
I hear ya.... in Nevada right now, but had to get up for one of the most awesome events in the world!
I think this press conference will be hugh.
Never seen that much debris before.
Birds pecked the foam in the VAB and it had to be patched.
Should have redone all of it.
This is one of those obvious things. Glad I’m recording.
Fingers crossed.
