Hmm. I think I’ve seen that comment somewhere else. Lemme think. Small forum. What could it be? LOL!

Relish these final flights, folks. US dominance of space is soon to come to an end. (sigh)

Elections do matter.. Yes the shuttle needs to go, but and I stress but, we should have something in place before they retire... I blame the bonehead politicians... I’ll keep an open mind about SpaceX, but I just don’t trust Obama...

I can not wait until this madness stops. The political correct crap is now selling Tammy as the new astronautic star at 1 billion dollars of printed money to go round and round again for nothing . Shut it down. My grand kids don’t want to pay so woman can go up. it is total BS!!

Sir I don’t care who goes up.. I think the best man or woman can go up regardless. I think we should focus on stopping higher priority stuff (like Cap and Trade). NASA is just a drop in the bucket..

Pi** you off.

That in and of itself is worth the cost.

Very Cool...I’m visiting my parents in FL right now and they only live a few miles from the beach. We just decided to get up at 5:30 and drive down to see the launch. I live WAY inland and much farther north so this will be a chance I wouldn’t normally have. Just in time too because we are driving home tomorrow.

IIRC, last time it was an expensive set of bay windows for the ISS.

This is likely to be the final nighttime launch.
Only 3 more launches after tomorrow (May 14, July 29, Sept 16).

Seems to me that manned space missions are for the forseeable future totally pointless, and government-run LEO missions are generally pointless as well unless a major world power decides to put weapons in space. Ah, but perhaps there’s some super duper secret program that justifies NASA’s existence instead of the usual bureaucratic self-interest on the part of NASA folks.

My son drove non-stop from Texas down there Friday to take the science nut grandson down for his 9th birthday so he could spend an entire day at the space center and watch the liftoff in the morning. He talked about what he had seen at the space center for 2 hours today on the phone - is he ever cranked. They are spending the night in the car as close as they can get to the launch site. What an awesome experience for him - too bad there probably won’t be any more - at least while BO is in charge.
