Where the Tea Partiers Should Go From Here (by Karl Rove in the WSJ)
Wall Street Journal ^ | Apr. 1, 2010 | Karl Rove

Posted on 04/04/2010 1:29:56 PM PDT by SmartInsight

Democrats are attacking the tea party movement because it is a new force that's bringing millions of here-to-fore unengaged Democrats, independents and Republicans into the political arena. If there's something a ruling party doesn't like, it's a new political player converting spectators into participants.

To maintain their influence, tea partiers will have to maintain their current energy and concern over health care and federal spending.

But tea partiers will have to do more than surf discontent with the Obama administration's policies. They will also have to coalesce around a positive agenda.

The unhinged quality of the White House and the DNC attacks show that they understand how much the tea party movement can affect this year's elections. Now is the time for the movement to ensure its energy - and influence - stay high.

And Reagan won two landslides -- the first, over Barack Hussein I (aka Dhimmi Carter).

Cheers!

“Would you have been happier with President Gore or Kerry?”

That’s not the point, Bushbot.

As much as many of us knew he was an idiot and shoved down our throats, some of us didn’t think he would be as dangerous.

I wish we could get rid of the gop altogether. I am so sick of these rinos, mcains, roves, bushes, frums, grahams, etc.

They are vile people in nealy the same league as obama.

Bush was never a conservative on most issues. But for his response to 911 and roberts he never did anything for the base. Alito was forced by the base.

Seriously, the first thing the Tea Party needs to do is change its name. Unfortunately, we will be mocked as Tea-Baggers without end. Liberals became “Progressives”. The Tea Party needs a new name, and the sooner the better. It's not that I don't like “Tea Party”, it's just the sad reality that it's an instant point of ridicule for the opposition. Let them fight us on ideas, not nomenclature.

...hence the rise of the ‘tea party’ folk, with whom I’m on board with in spirit, even thought I don’t attend their rallies...

Common sense. You may be interested in this list of Hot House Seats, if you haven’t seen it already. There are potentially 75-100 seats that could turn GOP, if we don’t shoot ourselves in the feet.

“David? David FRUM? Didn’t you just get FIRED?”

You are addressing this to the wrong poster — it would be much more appropriate for many other posters. Frum is ATTACKING the Republicans, thereby helping the Democrats.

Let them fight us on ideas, not nomenclature.

As they always have they will refuse to fight on that ground. Now what? Changing the names we use to represent ourselves will not change our opponents tactics.

Make excuses for him. That doesn’t mean you give up. That doesn’t mean you stop forcing your party from going on a spending spree. He never even tried. That is why his admin will go down as a failure on the economic front.

Rove with the help of Grover Norquist is who led GW down the amnesty path, and didn’t hesitate to call anyone who didn’t like it ‘bigots’.

Karl Rove says George Bush missed chance for immigration reform
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2468200/posts

[snip[According to a congressman’s wife who attended a Republican women’s luncheon yesterday, Karl Rove explained the rationale behind the president’s amnesty/open-borders proposal this way: “I don’t want my 17-year-old son to have to pick tomatoes or make beds in Las Vegas.”

There should be no need to explain why this is an obscene statement coming from a leader in the party that promotes the virtues of hard work, thrift, and sobriety, a party whose demi-god actually split fence rails as a young man, a party where “respectable Republican cloth coat” once actually meant something.

FRUM also (like you) is attacking what he disparagingly calls "purists" in the hope of winning "the broad center".

The necessary and sufficient counterexamples are two:

a) Ronaldus Magnus, who ran as a conservative and governed as one, and won two landslides.
b) Obama ran AS a centrist, but is governing as a Stalinist. What is the trend in HIS approval ratings?

Cheers!

How about “Tea Party Carnival?”

Nothing is serious. There are still jackasses dressed as clowns showing up.

Great fun!!!/sarc

“Rove got a President elected. I think he knows something about how to run a campaign and messaging.”

Then he has to take the credit for turning the public against republicans to the point of electing democrats to the WH, House of Reps and the Senate as well.

“if we don’t shoot ourselves in the feet...” If we don’t take over Congress, it will be more like shooting ourselves in the head.

We have the best opportunity in a generation at least, to take over Congress and keep the country free, and if we blow it now, we won’t have another chance for at least another generation, if ever. Just look what Obama is doing to the country in just one year — just think what he will do in 8.

Well said. Thank you.

Even Rove’s book title makes me want to scream (something about him being conservative — pure BS). It was republicans who followed the Rove / Bush prescription that sent people running from the GOP and now we’re being told that those same people will be our rescuers. Pure, unadulterated crap.
