Your solution to expel the parents and let them keep their kids only if the kids renounce their citizenship is ridiculous and inhumane.
“Your solution to expel the parents and let them keep their kids only if the kids renounce their citizenship is ridiculous and inhumane.”
It’s a better solution than what we have now. How is it ‘inhumane’? They can take their little jackpot babies home with them or leave them here.
Actually, Bad Jack was saying that the parents should renounce the baby's citizenship... not the baby, who is incapable of such an act.
If the parents are here legally, I am all for it. If the parents are here for good, then being born on American soil is good enough. I am not arguing the semantics of the law here, just stating my view. Even if a child is born to someone on holiday, the child should be an American. It should not in anyway mean that his parents status is bettered because of it. It should make no difference if the child is an American or not to his parents immigration status. In fact, the child should be deported along with the parents since he can’t make his own decisions. But, if there are relatives that have legal status, that child, as an American, should be allowed to stay.
Take a honk at Wong Kim Ark. The law is real simple. If a child is born in this country, and his parents do not fit into two exceptions, the kid is a natural born citizen and can grow up to be President Pedro.
