OAKDALE, Calif. (CBS/KOVR) Crowds of students and parents gathered around to watch an Oakdale High School freshman violently beat her classmate. Instead of calling 911, students whipped out their cell phones to record the attack. Manita Hazlewood, the mother of the victim, told CBS affiliate KOVR that her daughter didn't have a chance to fight back. "This girl was on top of her slamming her head into the ground," she said.
The flight lasted about 30 seconds but the girl was already badly beaten and suffered a concussion. A mother, who wants to remain anonymous, says she stepped in to help as she witnessed parents cheering on the attacker.
"I was very shocked. These are grown parents. This girl had enough time, and these people were right next to it," said the woman.
The victim's mother told KOVR, "She's traumatized. Not only was she beaten, it was on YouTube; there's video. I got three different versions of it."
In the recording, students can be heard egging on the attack.
Hazlewood's daughter was brought back to the school and interviewed by administrators and cops. Hazlewood is angry the school didn't call her even though her daughter was badly beaten.
Oakdale Joint Unified School District Superintendent Fred Rich told KOVR, "We try to ensure the safety. It's not always physically possible, especially if we don't know about it."
KOVR says the victim was suspended even though the video allegedly shows her to be the recipient of the attack. The other girl has reportedly been expelled.
Police are investigating. No word yet on what the fight caused the fight.
Oakdale is a nice small cow-town. They had a great rodeo there. I used to go every year and ride in the rodeo parade. Amazing to think that this could happen there. OakLAND, sure... but not Oakdal.
Same here. The only thing was that you would be hauled into the Principal’s office and had....GASP.....your but paddled until you could not sit down.
Yes, I know that’s a little horrifying for the new generation (no time outs), but it got the job done.

And what are the public schools that are not so horrific that it wouldn’t be better if a child never attended?
Here the violence done to the child is less subtle than other forms of more serious harm that go unnoticed, and those forms of harm are present everywhere, including our really “different” suburban schools.

Probably in the same places where she was when she should have been teaching her daughter some morals along with the father—oh, wait—is there no mention of a father?—What a surprise—maybe the baby’s daddy. The parents of this criminal should be forced to be sterilized.

You know, I was going to include her father in my original question but the left has made fathers so superfluous that I didn’t bother. What a sad statement on our culture...
But it would likely have been a "clean" fight, too. Also, when one person is down, it's over. Unless that person gets back up and wants to go more. The attacker likely sucker-punched or sneak-attacked the victim to begin with, then continued to beat the victim's head into the ground. This was attempted murder, not a "fight."

Until you know what caused the fight, I guess you hold judgment on that decision, but it does raise eyebrows.

My guess is that the cheering parents were black racists.
It said her father was a Pastor. You'd think he wouldn't be teaching her this. But if he's a "reverent wright" type of pastor, he could have taught her how evil white people are for the last 15 years, like those aryan nation kids.
Odd that we never here news stories about black kids being brought up to hate whites.
