David Petraeus for President: Run General, run
With many voters yearning for an outsider, and military officers looked up to, General David Petraeus could be a powerful presidential candidate and a potentially accomplished President.
Americans have never been so disgusted with their politicians. More than three-quarters of Americans disapprove of Congress. President Barack Obama's favourability ratings have slumped to below 50 per cent and he is no longer trusted or believed by many who voted for him.
Republicans are faring little better and the growth of the Tea Party movement reflects the widespread disgust with Washington and the political class. Incumbents across the board are vulnerable in November's mid-term elections.
Many voters yearn for an outsider, someone with authenticity, integrity and proven accomplishment. Someone who has not spent their life plotting how to ascend the greasy pole, adjusting every utterance for maximum political advantage.
In this toxic climate, perhaps the only public institution that has increased in prestige in recent years is the American military. Its officers are looked upon, as General George Patton once noted, as "the modern representatives of the demi-gods and heroes of antiquity".

Why don’t you slip us his Birth Certificate and travel records?
“David Petraeus for President: Run General, run “
I don’t know why anyone would want to subject themselves to modern politics. But, if a man like David Petraeus, a REAL American, a political outsider, wanted to run, he’d be the man we need to defeat Obama and the communists.
David Petraeus, your country needs you.
Because there is no B/C. Family hitory gets passed through the tribes in a language that is just a series of clicks.
history
Let’s tap the brakes. I remember when the GOP was all fired up about Gen. Colin Powell, before even knowing where he stood on the issues.
hut, hut!
Petraeus is an arabist jerk. He ranks right up with James Baker and Colin Powell as the worse kind of globalist.
So where does he stand on the issues?
Read a bio on Gen petreaus...everyone who knows him says he is VERY ambitious..I can see it happen. He would win in a cakewalk but has to get nominated first
No one knows, that’s the thing. If the Brits are pushing him, then you know he’s not a conservative.
Isn’t he just another Ivy Leaguer globalist Rockefeller Republican?
who knows? if insurrection is a problem and he’s in office he’s the CIC THEN we might have a real police state especially after all the rioting that will ensue if the one is not re-elected just mho that’s all personally i’m neutral on a candidate at this point all the cards aren’t on the table yet
Petraeus did a good job with the surge in Iraq. But we don’t know a damned thing about his political views.
I remember when a lot of Freepers wanted Colin Powell for President. How would that have worked out?
Maybe Petraeus is different. But we certainly don’t know that.
Dwight Eisenhower was an earlier military hero elected President. He was the choice of the liberal wing of the party, and they got what they wanted.
I wouldn’t TOUCH Petraeus without knowing a lot more about him.
I’m just not a teeny bopper who throws my panties on stage at the first sight of a star.
Eh, I don’t think he would win...
He has said repeatedly that he is not interested, and NO, NO, NO, and NO again.
He is a self-described, Republican, of the Eisenhower-Rockefeller persuasion (New England).
I believe him. Mercifully, he has no interest in pursuing politics.
