No one died? He’ll never make it into the Hall with that lack of control.
I thought maybe Pete Rose and Bud Selig.......
I was about to say, “Pete Rose?”
Nuts..
Maybe between a Red Sox fan and a Yankees fan?
Or Cubs fan and St. Louis Cardinals fan....
Say it isn’t so, Joe.
“Blyleven deserves to be in the Hall.”
“Does not. He was never a great pitcher.”
“Well he pitched for a lot of bad teams.”
“So? He was named to just two All-Star teams over 20 years. Never won a Cy, much less an MVP. Didn’t reach 300 wins. Led the A.L. one year in home runs allowed...”
“But he’s among the top five all-time in strikeouts.”
“Besides, the ‘pitched for bad teams’ line is a lie. The combined won-loss record for all the teams he played on was above .500. He was on World Series teams twice...”
“He deserves to be in!” BLAM. BLAM. BLAM.
Because the proximity, the place is pretty much dominanted by three kinds of fans, Yankees, RedSox and that other team in Queens. There is a palable tension between the first two camps, most people consider the others oddballs.
I saw a special on Pete Rose not that long ago, and supposedly within a mile of The Baseball Hall of Fame, there is a “Pete Rose Museum”, a “shrine”(so to speak) with a lot Pete’s memorabilia in it. There is a guy other than Pete who set it up and runs it, but Pete does show up somewhat frequently to greet visitors and do “autograph signings”.

His application for reinstatement has been rejected out-of-hand by Commissioner Bud Selig, but the story does not die.
I’ve never met the man, Rose said of Selig Saturday. He says I haven’t done anything to show I’ve changed. (But) I don’t do any illegal gambling. I’m very careful about the people I hang out with and I’ve said I was sorry to every newspaper and on every TV show. What do they want me to do? Get down on my knees and beg?

Update on shooting:
In an official statement released at about 6 p.m. Friday, village officials said the incident involved two 16-year-old males and occurred inside the foyer of the village police department, apparently as the victim was seeking assistance.
“Right now it appears that one male was possibly chasing another male,” the statement said. “We believe that the victim may have been running to the police station in an attempt to get to a safe location.”
The shooter also suffered gunshot wounds that appear to be self-inflicted, the release stated. No officers fired their guns during the incident, and no officers were injured.
Thanks for the ping.
You’re welcome.
What is so odd about this story is that C’Town is virtually crime-free.
No way! Cardinals fans are way too nice for that. :-)
I AM a HUGE Cardinal Fan and I AM nice!!!!!!!!
(....BUT... when it comes to the Cubs.........)
Oh, I agree! Our oldest son is a Cubs fan, and we always ask ourselves where we went wrong. ;-)
Albert Pujols for president!
