Mexico drug gangs turn weapons on army

Reporting from Mexico City - Drug traffickers fighting to control northern Mexico have turned their guns and grenades on the Mexican army, authorities said, in an apparent escalation of warfare that played out across multiple cities in two border states.

In coordinated attacks, gunmen in armored cars and equipped with grenade launchers fought army troops this week and attempted to trap some of them in two military bases by cutting off access and blocking highways, a new tactic by Mexico's organized criminals.

In taking such aggressive action, the traffickers have shown that they are not reluctant to challenge the army head-on and that they possess good intelligence on where the army is, how it moves and when it operates.

At least 18 alleged attackers were killed and one soldier wounded in the fighting that erupted Tuesday in half a dozen towns and cities in the states of Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon, the army said, topping off one of the deadliest months yet in a drug war that has raged for nearly 3 1/2 years.

The U.S. Consulate in Monterrey issued a warning to Americans who might be traveling in northern Mexico for the Easter break, citing the sudden outbreaks of gun battles in Nuevo Leon and neighboring states.

Our only recourse in this moment, (and probably the very best one) is to pray for the Will of God for this entire situation.

Easter and Passover blessings to all.

***At least 18 alleged attackers were killed***

ALLEGED ATTACKERS? PC gone wild! They are DEAD! They are not US citizens! Did the dead have guns on them?

Then they are not “alleged attackers”. They are dead attackers!

The media tends to overplay things like this, but in this case it IS a real war... I've been paying a lot of attention to this and it's not a few Mexican gang bangers. These groups are heavily armed and well trained. A couple days ago there was a story about them hitting a heavily fortified army weapons depot and getting away with all kinds of grenades, bombs, guns and ammo. I wonder if their is not more to this than just drugs; I.E. they are being secretly funded and supplied by some country that wants to destabilize our Southern border.

When this war moves across the border, Americans our going to see things we never thought we would see in this country...

And all because of those damned US gun shows and shops. Man, somebody needs to regulate them out of existence. [/Janet Incompetanto thought bubble]

I’ll wager that the drug cartels’ pay package is far better than that of the Mexican Army!

Evidently it's the other way around:   Google "Drug money propped up financial crisis"

How long is it before we see them with tanks

It is called a “Drug War”. Seems to me drugs are the financing aspect of an insurrection similar to what is happening with the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Seems to me that attacking the Mexican Army is an act of war. Obama had better look at this situation before it’s beyond the out of control it is now.

I’ve been saying this for years. This will be the greatest threat to our country. We have Latino gangs targeting US police officers. The intimidation factor in Mexico has made it a hell hole.

That statement should be credited to poster Appillar. Sorry, if you thought that was my comment. Yet, I do agree with what he and you said.

This is happening with the blessing of our own Government all in the name of VOTERS. Sickening and they are Traitors to the United States in my opinion. It's all about elections.

Yet, again now it seems some of them are interested when it comes to their very own back yard.

Zero wants to concentrate on screwing up domestic policy, then he'll return to screwing up foreign policy. Or maybe he'll do both simultaneously. Yeah, that's probably it.
