Why Veterans Affairs benefits are not socialist
040110 | Keith Brown

Posted on 04/01/2010 9:23:21 PM PDT by Keith Brown

There is a number of leftys who continue to make the comment that VA care and benefits are socialist.

Since I have worked at the cursed VA, I sent this letter to my local paper(in their format), who refuses to print it.

I hope someone can find info they can use here.

[But they provide these singular services abominably.]

It takes time and patience to find the right professional but they exist in that system.

Lefties think they are being clever when they cite the military as an example of how well gov’t works. But as is typically the case for the left, the facts demonstrate the complete opposite. Specifically, our military has to compete against other militaries and if it does a poor job then lots of its members die. And if it does a really poor job then it may even go out of business as a result of our country being conquered.

None of these circumstances apply to our federal bureaucracies. No matter how poor a job they do, none of their members are killed due to poor performance. Nor do federal bureaucracies ever go out of business. In fact, the opposite is the case. The poorer the job they do, the more vociferously they argue for budgetary increses so they can have the resources to do the ‘job’ right.

Not to put to fine a point on it, but once federal bureaucrats are forced to compete on a do or die basis, then and only then will it be justified to compare them to our military.

Honestly?

Money and Power.

The castle builders who run their fiefdoms know that no one will dare challenge them on their BS.

They can hide behind “helping vets” or the bureaucracy/

But all things considered the system costs too much and the vet has to crawl thru too much crap to get to it.

“You make some pretty serious allegations there.”
I make truthful statements of fact.

“I would argue that the VA is probably incompetent in certain areas and instances, but to say corrupt is taking it to a whole other level.”

No it isnt. Check this website... a list of VA corruptions nationwide...http://www.vawatchdog.org/

“I fail to see how or what they’re hiding from when you say they hide behind the veterans.”

One example....if they are called on their incompetence many many of the VA managers will fall back to the statement....”I was doing what I thought was best for the veteran” when in fact it is obvious that they are doing what is best for themselves.

“You may care less if they crash and burn, but the many thousands of veterans who seek and receive medical care at these facilities might have a thing or two to say about that.”

And how many of those you speak for think the VA cant do better?

“As for their political leanings, I have no proof. Do you, or are you just making a generalized assumption because they work for an arm of the U.S. gov’t?”

Didnt you read the part where I work within the VA system? Or are you making an assumption because somehow I have exposed something you didnt want shown the light of day?

“As for your last comment, I would ask if you’ve been on the receiving end of such treatment and if so, was it at every VA facility nationwide?”

Again I would ask if you have read this site http://www.vawatchdog.org/ which has been tracking VA incompetence and criminal behavior nationwide for years.

“You are disparaging a lot of folks in your comments. That’s a pretty broad brush your swinging around.”

Good! They need to be disparaged. And I am man enough to swing the biggest of brushes.

What is it that I have said that you are so afraid of?

I’d have to ask what department in what VA institution do you work for that you are so ashamed of?

I don’t disagree. It’s been speculated that it would be cheaper to give veterans an insurance card and just shut down most of the system.

It would.

Make the medicos get certified to do vet care, audit them now and then, and shut the VA down.

Good for vets, good for local community docs.

Did you check the web site I posted above?

I just now looked at it a bookmarked it. Interesting.

I’m sure you’re familiar with the book “Stolen Valor.” The writers did enough research that the could written a second book just on the VA system.

I live in a rural area. We have a clinic that serves Medicaid clients, VA clients—who can’t make it the 120 miles to Memphis VA or Nashville VA—and uninsured people who are charged according to income. The facility was almost dysfunctional for more than a year because there was one physician. After that they got more doctors and it got better.

Yeah one of my thoughts was that a doctor could get to know the vet. Then give advice based on the vets needs, the rules of the VA, and the circumstances.

Sometimes the doc needs to tell the vet no or to buck up.

Another good point to this is that if you have a bad doctor, he be easier to get rid of.

First of all, I did not post to you. Are you that posters babysitter?

Second, for you to question my integrity and sincerity without knowing who you're addressing tells me that you are full of shit and don't know the first thing about conducting a legitimate discussion.

I asked the poster, not you, to address his allegations.

Third, in regards to this comment..."I’d have to ask what department in what VA institution do you work for that you are so ashamed of?

Go F*&^ yourself. Look the answer up yourself if your so smart you jackass.

You are not the person I was addressing in my original post.

You began the flame war with your insipid and childish comments.

Ad hominems, I love ‘em.

Instead of debating like an adult, you took any disagreement as an offense, just like a lib.

You sure you’re capable of debate? Folks over at DU have better skills than you’re demonstrating right now.

Why are you still yapping?

You were answered...with documentation.

You failed to provide replys to the facts that I had to spoon feed you.

And now you have been dismissed.

Take your tantrum and do elsewhere so the adults can have a discussion.

Again, you were not the poster I posted to. I find your reaction extremely immature and abusive in the sense that you believe you can ridicule me into submission. Think again.

I can and will continue to post. You lost your chance to convince me with the last statement of your first post to me. You may have posted facts, but the instant you made it personal you lost your opportunity.

And for your information, you don't get to decide when or how I post. I will stop posting to you regarding this when I'm good and ready. I'm not subject to your childish demands that I be dismissed.

Got it?

Still babysitting the poster who won't answer I see.

It appears that demeaning and ridiculing posters who disagree with your methods is all you're good at.

Typical DU'er. Can't accept that their initial response was over the top and when called on it, just keeps digging.

There's a thing called respect, I would have thought they taught you that in the Marines. You apparently go with the premise that unless one agrees with you completely, they are not deserving of respect.

"...so the adults can have a discussion"

Keep telling yourself that, eventually it may come true.

Is there anything you won’t say to me in public that you must now LIE about sending me a FReepmail? If you had sent it, I would have posted it on this thread.

I’ll tell you and anyone else reading this, if you’re too chickenshit to say it in public, it ain’t worth reading.

What are you afraid of? Why do you insist on ad hominem attacks? Why can’t you get it through your thick skull that I never posted to you UNTIL you inserted yourself into the conversation and insisted on making it and continuing to make it personal?

I will not be cowed into submission by someone such as you. Ever.

Stop lying about the FReepmail, stop making it personal. Admit you screwed up and move on.

If you don’t want to hear back from me, don’t post to me. It’s really quite simple.

I will not allow you to continue to make your personal attacks against my character without challenging you.

Are you capable of comprehending that?
