TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now investigating the state Republican Party’s finances and former GOP Chairman Jim Greer, who was ousted last month in a revolt within the ranks over spending. Party Chairman John Thrasher announced today that an audit he ordered…showed a possibly illegal relationship between “a senior-level official” of the party and a company doing business with the GOP…

Greer resigned amid an uproar over a secret contract he entered into with Delmar Johnson, former executive director of the Republican Party of Florida. The contract paid Johnson a commission on fund-raising for the state party and brought his total compensation to more than $400,000.

I though when Jim Greer lost the re-election campaign and Michael Steele won, he was no longer chairman and had no job or title to resign from. Was he still wotking for Crist somehow?

Greer was state chairman for Florida.

I'm afraid to know how much of this crap is going on at high levels. People are doing without to support the GOP and some of the high rollers think that means party time!

They aren't representing us, they only think about us when the money pot needs refilling. Their damned dirty laundry hung out for the democrats to laugh at doesn't help either.

All this needs to be straightened out now before any elections.

Party funds must be accounted for and limited as to what they are used for.

Just because someone claims to be conservative and republican doesn't mean they are. I realized long ago that there are people playing as republicans only to associate with the big money people. they have no principles beyond making more money. They are for sale to the highest bidder!

Steele wanted to have his own private jet. He’s done nothing for the party but be the paid hack official black guy of the GOP.

Pathetic. But, that is the East Coastal, old school, Rockefeller, financial GOP elite for you.

As a new voter in Florida it looks to me like the GOP of Florida could set a good example for the rest of the country.

Crist at first seemed to have a lock on the nom and like most GOP pols he didnt listen or even care what the base waas saying. Then along comes Rubio and BOOM! lol.

The RNC/GOP hate Rubio....Steel and Cornyn and his pals will do everything to stop Rubio....even in the general election.

Traditionally, in Florida at least, a governor picks the state chairman of his party in the sense that state executive committee members usually defer to the governor’s choice. Soon after Crist was elected, he picked the previously obscure Jim Greer as the Republican Party of Florida chairman. With Crist’s backing, Greer also won reelection but was forced to resign earlier this year due to excessive and questionable spending and character and conduct issues.

Seems Crist has problems all over.
Jim Greer was one of his boys and a few of his money raisers are being investigated or indicted too.
Then you include Crist french kissing obammy and begging for tarp money and there you have a big win for Rubio.

Yeah thanks Morgan!

It was widely known that Greer played fast and loose with most everything he did.

He was reckless but got away with it for a long time since he raised so much money.

Looks like the party is over .
