AZ-Sen. 2010: McCain spends millions fighting primary challenge ($2.75M in 3 mos. attacking J.D.!)
The Hill, Washington, DC ^ | 2010-03-31 | Sean J. Miller

John McCain spent more in the last three months than he did the entire 2004 cycle.

His campaign announced Wednesday that it raised $2.2 million this quarter and now has $4.5 million cash on hand. The Arizona senator came into 2010 with $5.05 million banked, which means he's spent $2.75 million in the last three months. In 2004, McCain ran unopposed in the GOP primary and spent $2.1 million defeating a poorly funded Democratic opponent in the general.

J.D. Hayworth, McCain's primary challenger, hasn't yet released his numbers but a spokesman said they were "pleased" with the figures.

-- Probably some good "I'm corrupt" McCain quotes available for the looking. --

No doubt. But what I had in mind was suing his campaign for violations, and seeing to it that the suits got some press. Same sort of thing that he tried to do with Obama's foregoing of public financing, but in my case, I'm suggesting looking for reporting violations, violations in advertisements, etc. It costs time and money to defend against complaints and lawsuits, even if he wins.

“McCain is “WAFFLING” worse than John Kerry did! “

I noted the same thing last night, Yorkie. McCain has sunk to an all time low.

I was disappointed to hear on Fox that the Tea Partiers received him fairly well because Sarah was with him.

Sound like we need to get JD to some Tea Party Rallys.

His radio adverts are mean and nasty and counterproductive. Emblematic of McCain himself.

Except when he ran against Obama. Then he was all peaches and cream acting the perfect gentleman and careful not to offend.

Before the rancher was killed McShame did not want troops on the border believing drones was the better way to control illegals and concerned troops would be sending the wrong message. Suddenly McShame has had a change of heart (thanks to JD's poll numbers) and it took a tragedy for the man to finally wake up.

A little too late from a man who name called anyone opposing amnesty bigots and ridiculing that his offer to get American volunteers to pick lettuce at $20 an hour fell on deaf ears.

The last poll I saw had JD within 7 points - any new poll results?

Just heard Dick Morris say there's a 4 point spread but take it from the source.

Okay, good. I’m trying. I know of a few I still need to add in though.

It’s a daunting task to keep up with this guy.

McCain’s local radio ads are

1) Praise him as the Savior of Arizona”

2) Lying attack ads on Hayworth.

The both make me want to puke.

It is impossible to do it with Obama. He has so many evil doings going on all at once, that a genius couldn’t keep up. That is no doubt his personal modus operandi.

You know what, when I heard that he called for troops on the border, it made me furious and I called the SOB a string of choice names.

This guy is a lying deceiving dirt-bag of the highest order.

As you state, there is a huge difference between the MeCain of 2008 and the MeCain of 2010.

I recognize the MeCain of 2008 all too well. I have no idea who this bastard pretender is.

It was $50 dollars if I remember accurately, and he had takers too. People in the crowd raised their hands.

If he thinks I wouldn’t pick lettuce for $50 dollars an hour, he’s even more full of —— than I thought.

Thanks for the incredible research you did on this sham...something worthy enough to share with JD and his team.

Rob Krentz has already been forgotten. The media will never put the echo on it as if it benefited P.C.

Hayworth needs to keep his name alive.

Don't need anymore such events.

Just FYI, my father in Tucson damn near suffered the same fate at the hands of two guys of the same persuasion, under similar circumstances: they showed up in the back yard asking for water.

All he lost was a few hundred bucks, some repairs to his car they stole to get away ( and abandoned ), and his self respect. In addition to them holding him prisoner and threatening to cut his throat.

So this crap is not isolated. It is happening all over Arizona and the other border states. You just don't hear about it as often.

The whole thing has to stop. McCain won't stop it. At least Hayworth might try.

Yes yes it was $50.00 as I recall writing to him as his 'FIRST' volunteer from NY.

The SOB is still the media darling and you can't watch TV without seeing his feigned outrage about health care, the growth in government and whatever the topic du jour is for the day.

The man obviously suffers from dementia as it wasn't that long ago he told those opposed to amnesty that "they're children of God", "they're trying to provide a better life", "they're doing jobs Americans won't do" while he now demands we put troops on the border. Too late Johnny.

He was calling people racists. I guess he’s now a racist, and I didn’t hear any apology.
