Seattle Times ^ | 03/25/10

Former gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi was in D.C. this week to meet with John Cornyn, chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, about a possible run against Sen. Patty Murray. The CQ Politics blog has the story.

Rossi, a Republican, also met with Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, the Washington Post's politics blog, The Fix, reported.

Rossi's name has been floated as a possible candidate against Murray, although he has been publicly non-committal about such talk. The filing deadline isn't until June.

Rossi is a former state senator who lost two campaigns for governor, in 2004 and 2008.

Another, more recent article quotes a county GOP chairman, who has no doubt Rossi will run:

"Rossi is a former state senator who lost two campaigns for governor, in 2004 and 2008."

Not true. Clearly, the first one was stolen outright.

Murray is in the “Safe” category now according to CQ Politics. Rossi in the race may knock this out of “Safe”. We’ll see.

Certainly. I think it’s in Rossi’s best interest. If he wants to stay in politics, he should be able to win an election and the recount.

I have voted for Dino twice and worked for his first campaign. I have come to the conclusion that he will never win statewide office. The socialists in Seattle and Olympia will always conspire to create the number of votes needed to “win.”

He’d better run.

He has the best chance to win.

Rossi can beat her. The problem is the Republicans have almost no bench out there. I don’t know what kind of guarantee this guy is looking for, but there are none in politics..

Family issues. He has young children in school. That makes it difficult. Either drag them across the country to live in the cesspool of the DC area, or try to maintain a bicoastal family life (not easy).

Only if Rossi exhibits the same fire in the belly he did in the 2004 race. If he tries to phone in the senate race like he did on his last gubernatorial race...fugetabouit.

Or stay out of all politics except local politics. People in the armed services drag their families everyhwere for a lot less. . And besides, he could live in suburban Virginia and have a very nice lifestyle for his kids. I wouldnt be crying about that.

He had my vote in 2004 and 2008, and he’ll especially have my vote if he runs against Murray. It’s time to end the reign of the dingbat pork queen.

Please don't call him a "putz". He ran twice. The first time, he won the election and then the unions and ACORN stole the election in plain sight.

He has always said that he didn't want to move his family to the D.C. area. Now, his children were younger then so perhaps he feels that he can now make a move to D. C.

I try never to fault anyone for not wanting to move their family to the D.C. cesspool.
