Obama to Unveil Offshore Oil Drilling Plans (HUH?)
FoxNews.com/AP ^ | 3/31/2010

In a reversal of a long-standing ban on most offshore drilling, President Barack Obama is allowing oil drilling 50 miles off Virginia's shorelines. At the same time, he is rejecting some new drilling sites that had been planned in Alaska.

Obama's plan offers few concessions to environmentalists, who have been strident in their opposition to more oil platforms off the nation's shores. Hinted at for months, the plan modifies a ban that for more than 20 years has limited drilling along coastal areas other than the Gulf of Mexico.

Obama was set to announce the new drilling policy Wednesday at Andrews air base in Maryland. White House officials pitched the changes as ways to reduce U.S. reliance on foreign oil and create jobs -- both politically popular ideas -- but the president's decisions also could help secure support for a climate change bill languishing in Congress.

Obama also urged Congress to complete work on a climate change and energy bill, which has remained elusive. The president met with lawmakers earlier this month at the White House about a bill cutting emissions of pollution-causing greenhouse gases by 17 percent by 2020.

There's the catch. BO/BS will impose more restrictions on the people in exchange for this apparent promise. We all know how much weight BO's/BS's promises carry.

IMO this guy is a (perhaps THE) deceiver. I don’t trust for a minute that he has any good intentions for America!

People here are getting excited about the possibility of a disastrous immigration bill, but I think his next move is actually going to be “cap and trade” or some version thereof. He can manipulate immigration all he wants through a piecemeal regulatory approach and also can make sure that every illegal Somali or Muslim gets free health care and welfare (like his aunt) and is able to vote through Dem work at the state level.

This supposed drilling is a lead-in to deceive people into accepting “climate change” legislation that will give him the power to control our food supply, our private travel and (literally) the air we breathe - and to make money for the government monster while doing so. It’s all for show, and we have to be very, very careful now.

Pure bait and switch. It sounds good, but it will be 5 years before they ever lease and then Zero knows that the enviro hoops will be such that the leases will run out.

Note that the bastard cut the legs off of Alaska, I wonder why.

More bait and switch lies from UH_Bummer, they will kill it later before he gets out after years of entanglements to implementation, trade this for cap and trade and whatever other commie money grabs he can pull over the peoples eyes while using our money.

Our president, the lying scumbag..say anything, do anything to screw us over..The worse off we are the easier the takeover..

How about start drilling tomorrow, no need to do years of studies, and no trade offs to do it, do it because its what the country needs, I am sick of the trade off crud. Always ends up the same way, twice the real cost and taxed..

This is nothing more than a prelude to a cap and tax push.

Stuart Varney just said on FNC that Obama will order environmental studies that will take several years. This is just a hoax.

My first thought was, “Who’s vote did this buy?” I’m not familiar with the Virginia Congresscritters, but it has the feel of a “deal” made to secure a vote for Obamacare. I did a quick google search and found this info about a VA Dem House member who was named as the head of the Subcommittee on Interior and the Environment in March:

How did we get to the point where Fedzilla is dictating to the states what they can and cannot do with their resources?

Some snippets from an article I found:

- - -

McDonnell recently met with U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to urge him allow drilling for oil and natural gas off the coast of Virginia.

U.S. Sens. Jim Webb and Mark Warner, both Democrats, and Republican members of the Virginia’s U.S. House delegation have also written letters in support. But Moran and some of the other Democratic members of the Virginia delegation are opposed.

Moran, who represents traffic-clogged Northern Virginia, argues that drilling will not occur for at least eight years and any royalties that come from offshore gas or oil must go to the federal government, not Virginia.

Let me guess, the "modification" to the ban will be to further limit or outright ban drilling even in the Gulf of Mexico. The sop so they can at least remotely claim pushing energy independence will be they will allow more production/flow from existing wells.

Remember, if obama's lips are moving, he's lying. Nothing this {expletive} or his cohorts in crime say is as it appears. Everything is spin, and generally they mean (and their actions are) the opposite of whatever they are saying/claiming.

The left won’t say a word. They know that he’s lying and this is just B.S. like the “no federal funds for abortion.”

Yeah, how's it go? “Beware Greeks bearing gifts”. Barry will be working a Quid Pro Quo with certain susceptible (suckers) GOP legislators for their vote on the Dem's upcoming Cap and Trade bill. Additionally, Barry is quite aware that Enviro Nazis will keep this tied up in environmental studies and legislation into perpetuity. But, there's always the likes of Susan Collins and Olympia Snow who will fall for this sort of slight of hand.
