Why would they schedule a talk presented by a terrorist in the first place?

Note that it was the “Social Justice Research Center” which scheduled him. BARF.

Why would they schedule a talk presented by a terrorist in the first place?

Perhaps because it was the "Social Justice Research Center at the University of Wyoming"?

From Investor's Business Daily (IBD), August 27, 2008:

"Ayers, now a tenured distinguished professor of education at UIC, works to educate teachers in socialist revolutionary ideology, urging that it be passed on to impressionable students.

One of Ayer's descriptions for a course called 'Improving Learning Environments' says prospective K-12 teachers need to 'be aware of the social and moral universe we inhabit and ... be a teacher capable of hope and struggle, outrage and action, teaching for social justice and liberation.

The Annenberg papers are quite extensive — 132 boxes containing 947 file folders with 70 linear feet of material. They undoubtedly contain more surprises regarding Obama's relationship with Ayers, one of many relationships Obama has sought to hide.'..."

Does he still live at the same place in Chicago?

Is he being properly harassed on a daily basis?

I honestly do not know why anyone one would invite Bill Ayers anywhere. My guess is is that they thought they could get away with it under the guise of academic freedom. University donors are actually keeping tabs on what universities are doing and I for one am glad that this is the case!!

Unfortunately, most colleges do. It’s because the colleges are run by people from when Ayers his hey day.

It's standard procedure for groups within a university to schedule their own speakers without clearing it with the president of the school. Then word of a controversial speaker gets out, and a ruckus can ensue, putting pressure on the university to cancel.

When I was a freshman in college, the town protested a folk singer who had been contracted by the freshman class. The university told them "You'll have to deal with the freshman class about that," which is kind of a funny remark, but the concert went ahead as planned.

I think these days people are much more polarized and the schools are afraid of violence, or unwilling to hire the extra security to keep everyone safe.

I’m sure this cancellation will be followed up with “The haters won this time” stories in the media.
