Petreus would have begged to be in the first plane.

That story has been debunked.

LOL. Didn’t they also have a flying lawnmower and a picnic chair a while back?

No. They’re all in New York, if I’m not mistaken.

I spect the only reason they could make it is because their iranian puppet masters aren’t figuring a return trip in. It’s shaheed air all the way, baby.

But... the turk is allied with the Israelis, is he not? I know things have changed, but I thought Israel had a good relationship with the turk. I suspect Ivan or the optometrist.

I spect the Izzies have realms of surface-to-air and anti-ballistic missiles that we have never dreamed of.

“White House stood idly by when a blogger for Foreign Policy incorrectly claimed that General David Petraeus said something similar during a classified Pentagon briefing in January that was forwarded to the White House. Testimony by Petraeus before the Senate Armed Services committee was also widely mischaracterized in the tumult. But when close Obama advisor and political hack David Axelrod was asked directly on ABC’s “This Week” whether the libel concerning danger to U.S. personnel was true, he did not deny it, and instead heaped more calumny on Israel.

The White House allowed Petraeus to dangle in the wind for several days while critics from the left and right assailed him for comments he never made. He clarified the situation in a press briefing, phoned Israel’s friendly and cooperative Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, and even sent Ashkenazi a supportive blog post by writer Max Boot.

“But on Wednesday, Petraeus poured cold water on the controversy, explaining in detail why “all three items...were wrong, frankly.” “

Syrians taking advantage of the Poser of the US attitude toward Israel. Obama has signalled the Arabs that war will be OK. If they really want it.

-"Israeli fighter planes scrambled after foreign warplanes approach Israel"

They used to let the Air Force One sqadron fly over. Looks like they've stopped considering them 'friendlies' now.

Most likely Syrian. Jordan and Egypt wouldn’t. Lebanon only has a token air force and no fighters, just helos and some fixed-wing surveillance and transport planes. Iran is possible, but not likely; the easiest path would be traveling over Iraq and Jordan which WOULD have set off early warning systems—never mind how the US air defense controllers would have reacted if Iranian fighters were heading in the vicinity of the Green Zone. Plus, Turkey probably wouldn’t allow an Iranian overflight.

This leaves Syria as the most likely suspect.

not any more-—their sordid relationship is...shall we say... strained. The turk goon Erdogan showhs his true self...and it stinks.
