Vandals break window at Democratic Party offices

Someone vandalized the Alaska Democratic Party headquarters over the weekend, knocking a hole in the front window of the Midtown office, according to Anchorage police.

A Democratic Party official, David Metheny, arrived at the office around 11 a.m. Sunday, saw the damage and called police.

The window's metal frame was bent and it appeared to have been struck by a hard object, according to Anchorage police Lt. Dave Parker. The office is on Fairbanks Street between Fireweed Lane and Northern Lights Boulevard.

The outer pane was broken but not the inner pane. No one got inside the building, according to police.

Metheny, a statewide party organizer, "had no leads on who may have broken the window but stated that since the health care vote in Congress, the office had been receiving threatening calls," Parker said, reading from the police report.

Parker said it's not unheard of for political signs to get vandalized.

"People sometimes express their political discontent inappropriately," Parker said. "That could have been it. Or it could have just been somebody who decided they needed to break a window."

LOL

I would note there is a bar about 10 steps away.

That part of Anchorage takes a turn, for the worse, after dark. I used to work in the 17 floor building on the same block.

When called in to do night work, I always carried a .38 - the cops find a body a month or so in that AO.

So, political or a drunk? My money is on a drunk.....

I believe it was an inside job by the democrats themselves, gain pity points by being the injured party by the seditionists.

I’m familiar with that area in the day, never been there at night. I’m still with Unk-it was the dems themselves, knowing that ADN and KTUU (guess what was the top story at 5:00?) would play it big.
