According to two knowledgeable sources, Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele once raised the possibility of using party money to buy a private jet for his travel.
---snip---
While Steele has not purchased a plane, he continues to charter them. According to federal disclosure records, the RNC spent $17,514 on private aircraft in the month of February alone (as well as $12,691 on limousines during the same period). There are no readily identifiable private plane expenses for Democratic National Committee chairman Tim Kaine in the DNCs last three months of filings.
--snip---
Once on the ground, FEC filings suggest, Steele travels in style. A February RNC trip to California, for example, included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent [update: the amount is actually $1,946.25] at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.

I thought the charity made a solid defense and explanation.
Erik Brown, who owns Dynamic Marketing Inc. and most recently charged the Steve Poizner for Governor campaign more than $10,000 for campaign literature and mailings, was reimbursed by the RNC for the almost $2,000 in charges at Voyeur West Hollywood, according to FEC filings and online reports reviewed by The Daily Caller
The RNC has denied that Steele spent the money at Voyeur. But it appears Brown is close to the chairman. In October, Brown wrote on Twitter, Enjoying the football game with RNC Chairman Michael Steele. (Eagles vs Redskins at FedEx Field).
Hint - Frepers already broke the Twitter story. And here is a question to ponder (if your apologist streak will let you) - what kind of accounting system lets a 'staffer' blow two grand at a perv club - and what other crazed expenses lurk in the reports if a staffer can get this one past the bean counters?
>>This was a reimbursement made to a non-committee staffer. The chairman was never at the location in question, he had no knowledge of the expenditure, nor does he find the use of committee funds at such a location at all acceptable.
And as Bush might have said, the crawdaddying begins.
Just the simple fact that the staffer submitted this as an official expense tells you all you need to know.
SOP. Now the obligatory, we’re sorry, not for the deed, but for getting caught.
LOL! :-)
Second, the perv club meal charge to Erik Brown is the fourth highest meal expenditure for the month - and only those four are over a grand - so I want to know how a direct mail Young Republican can submit such a relatively large meal charge and not have it subject to serious scrutiny - but, then again, he appears to be a bud of Steele's, so that could be the answer right there.
Consider the source before you call for someone’s head!
And for the truth:

All someone has to do is come out of nowhere and give one decent speech and *someone* will be calling for him to be our candidate for the presidency.
I hear that. The bar is awfully low these days.

Out of all they spent, this was all that was transferred to other state/local committees - and over half that was to Michigan. Absolutely pathetic.

In summation, there is precious little money flowing out of the national RNC office to state organizations - but a ton being spent on fundraising.
So whjy don’t you research the DNC filings?
I would personally hope the DNC does a far better job wasting money than the RNC, quite frankly. You seem to not get the point - this is money NOT available to state and local candidates, which, last I checked, was the reason for the RNC to exist in the first place. I'm providing direct marketing/data processing expertise on a volunteer basis for a local GOP Congressional campaign - I spent 12 hours this weeked working on it - because I want the pubbie to WIN, not because I want a free meal or a free trip - it would be great if some of this wasted money could be used for campaigns like the one I am working on, that would mail a lot of campaign materials directly to the voters. So since you are so staunchly defending the RNC, please tell us what campaign YOU are working for...
Umm . . . well, that’s the best argument for blowing the $2K. Whew.
So he is guilty! Even without evidence yet!
> In summation, there is precious little money flowing out of the national RNC office to state organizations - but a ton being spent on fundraising.
More like FUNraising.
Pigs. Disgusting.
