According to two knowledgeable sources, Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele once raised the possibility of using party money to buy a private jet for his travel.
---snip---
While Steele has not purchased a plane, he continues to charter them. According to federal disclosure records, the RNC spent $17,514 on private aircraft in the month of February alone (as well as $12,691 on limousines during the same period). There are no readily identifiable private plane expenses for Democratic National Committee chairman Tim Kaine in the DNCs last three months of filings.

Once on the ground, FEC filings suggest, Steele travels in style. A February RNC trip to California, for example, included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent [update: the amount is actually $1,946.25] at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.

This is why I’m not giving money to the RNC. They call almost everyday now.
What a disgrace. For $1,946.25 he should have gotten to see topless women dancers having real lesbian sex.
Replace him with Sarah.
Thanks. I’ve passed that along.
private jet? Another country club Republican we do not need.
They need to be weeded out of the GOP and sent away...forever.

I supported Ken Blackwell for the job.
Has anyone but one other person gone thru the report. The nite club was not Steele's. There is a lot of travel by a lot of folks at the RNC, but I see no evidence of chartered jets.
PERHAPS FOLKS SHOULD READ THE REPORT BEFORE FIRING. This looks like ready fire, aim
See post 159, someone else in the RNC apparently incurred that expense. However, I want to know just what kind of ship Steele is running if a staffer can run up nearly two grand for a dinner at a perv club with donor funds - or do the two thousand bucks not stop with him?
Funny, Erik Brown didn’t send a Tweet from the perv club - I wonder why?
Was Steele hired by the DNC to infiltrate and destroy the RNC?
Exactly! Candidates know how to spend the money best.
RNC ONLY comes in play in a Presidential election thanks to that stupid CFR that McCain pushed. RNC is the only organization that can help out our Presidential candidates when they take Federal funding.
Time for Steele to resign if this is true!
Nice detective work. I wonder if the Orange County Young Republicans know what their boy is doing with his RNC Amex card?

RNC trips to other cities produced bills from a long list of chic and costly hotels such as the Venetian and the M Resort in Las Vegas, and the W (for a total of $19,443) in Washington. A midwinter trip to Hawaii cost the RNC $43,828, not including airfare.
Complaints, almost always expressed off the record, have been bitter. This is not somebody who is out recruiting candidates, said an aide who worked closely with Steele. He is not meeting with donors. Hes not asking for money. The guy is writing his book or doing his speaking gigs, or whatever the hell else he fills his days with. Those are his priorities.
HEY! But he wasn't the one who signed for the sex club!
See posts 159, 166 and 168 for the trail.
Steele’s sense of entitlement seems to be as bad, if not worse, than the average Congresscritter.
That works out to $453/day (28 days in February) - how much would it have been just to rent a nice full-sized car from Hertz?
