Israel fears Obama heading for imposed Mideast settlement
haaretz ^

U.S. President Barack Obama's demands during his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last Tuesday point to an intention to impose a permanent settlement on Israel and the Palestinians in less than two years, political sources in Jerusalem say.

Israeli officials view the demands that Obama made at the White House as the tip of the iceberg under which lies a dramatic change in U.S. policy toward Israel.

Of 10 demands posed by Obama, four deal with Jerusalem: opening a Palestinian commercial interests office in East Jerusalem, an end to the razing of structures in Palestinian neighborhoods in the capital, stopping construction in Jewish neighborhoods in East Jerusalem, and not building the neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo.

But another key demand - to discuss the dispute's core issues during the indirect talks that are planned - is perceived in Jerusalem as problematic because it implies that direct negotiations would be bypassed. This would set up a framework through which the Americans would be able to impose a final settlement.

It is not just Obama's demands that are perceived as problematic, but also the new modus operandi of American diplomacy. The fact that the White House and State Department have been in contact with Israel's European allies, first and foremost Germany, is seen as part of an effort to isolate Israel and put enormous political pressure on it.

Wouildn't the Rapture of the Church have to occur before this happens?

Perhaps it already did. If the rapture happens and CNN refuses to report it, did it really happen?

I think the parallel I was trying to make with the Romans was that they never quite died instead they become the feet (of mixed clay and iron reminiscent of the democratic republics of our day) the Image King Nebachudnezzar saw in his dream...a head of gold, silver neck and shoulders, torso of bronze, twin legs of iron and finally the aformentioned feet.

I think this discussion is better clarified by the 70 weeks prophecies found in Daniel. Daniel was told Israel would be trodden underfoot utill the times of gentiles would come to an end. 69 periods of 7 years would pass until the Son of God would be cut off then a delay of the final 1 week would occur. In the times since we have seen wars and kingdoms rise and fall. Israel being restored as an incorporated nation began the pre-launch count down. The final week begins when the beast signs his 7 year pact with Israel. The whole world of nations seems to come up against Israel in 3.5 years and that is when God comes to the aid of the righteous, “lest there be no life left’ as Christ stated.

How, in God's name, does Obastard expect to "impose" anything on Israel, unless he intends an armed invasion of Israel?

Depends on how you read the text. I personally don’t believe any Christians will be swept away before tribulation happens. It takes a tortured reading of the text to believe that if you ask me.

That blame the Jews line is growing old on FR...At least include some balance with that statement.

“...Republican strategists knew that undecided religious voters broke heavily for George W. Bush in the last weeks of the 2004 campaign, and they hoped Palin’s candidacy would sway those voters to the GOP again this year. Instead, those late deciders — including white Evangelicals — appear to have split between Obama and McCain.

Nationally, Obama captured 53% of the Catholic vote, a 13-point swing from 2004 and the largest advantage among the group for a Democrat since Bill Clinton. Obama also cut in half the Republican advantage among Protestants. And he made significant gains among regular worship attenders. Voters who attend religious services most frequently are still most likely to cast ballots for Republicans. But Obama won 44% of their votes, a 19-point shift in the category that, after the last presidential contest, inspired pundits to diagnose the existence of a “God gap.” Voters who worship at least once a month preferred Obama 53% to McCain's 46%.”

“...As in 2006, the least-religious Americans continue to reject the GOP in large numbers. Voters who say they visit houses of worship just a few times a year or not at all made up 44% of the electorate in this election. They gave Obama 59% and 68% of their votes, respectively; both totals represent double-digit increases from four years ago.

And yet despite the inroads Obama made with religious constituencies, there is one voting bloc that remains largely unmoved by Obamamania: white Evangelicals. One-quarter of them voted for Obama on Tuesday — despite a warning from conservative columnist Janet Porter that they could be risking their eternal souls by doing so — an improvement on John Kerry's dismal showing in 2004.”

Pre-Trib is debatable within the Body of Christ. Personally, I pray for it. But, in reading Revelation, I can't find evidence for it. However everything may unfold, the Lord will be with His people and we will not suffer His wrath.

Maranatha!
