General Motors recalls heavy duty vans
Published: March. 27, 2010 at 11:45 AM
WASHINGTON, March 27 (UPI) -- General Motors Co. said nearly 5,000 of the U.S. company's heavy duty vans are being recalled amid concerns of potential engine fires.
The Detroit News said Saturday while General Motors is recalling thousands of heavy-duty 2010 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana passenger and cargo vans, GM spokesman Alan Adler assured the public the recall issue has not resulted in any accidents or injuries to date.
Adler said three fires did take place after the vans were manufactured and left the assembly plant. The vans being recalled were all manufactured in February or March.

Now that GM is Government Motors, the MSM will widely ignore this call back.
The media, as of Sunday morning is STILL beating up on the
“violent” Republicans...they still refuse to look into the health bill’s numbers.
Goebbels would be proud.
Government Motors placed the blame of the recall on Climate Change, Mal Distribution of Wealth, Israel, and the former Bush Administration.
...and violent Tea Party activists.
Probably weren't too many fires before they were manufactured.
Obama’s fault
P!
Notice how UPI failed to mention the specific reason for the recall, like fuel line, gas filter, whatever. Clown who wrote it probably can’t raise the hood.
Will the senate have hearings and demand the CEO explain what’s going on?
Maybe if the engineers would go back to basics instead of taking long hits on the pipe...
We actually knew how to make cars that didn’t catch fire like 50 years ago.
And THEY EVEN STOPPED!!!!
Well, dunno. What’s going to happen when GM & Chrysler start to take charges to offset the “hit” to their balance sheets because of ObamaCare (akin to the Big Three that’ve been put on notice they’re being hauled in front of the media cameras on The Hill).
I bet the bill prohibits them from doing so, i.e., not from doing so, but from saying so.
Anybody wanna bet me?
Oh, my bad, I heard the unions are already clammoring for “assistance” in that regard.
I heard that in some worlds, “assistance” is very similar to “bailout”. Dunno.
I believe the cause is due to cosmic ray-guns.
Hey, what do I know?
Gee, dunno. You have one of these monstrosities and it explodes and takes out your house and all your kids die, what’re you gonna say?
I heard it on all the media outlets available that the concern was that these things could spontaneously start on fire. The warning from all the media outlets was to avoid parking them within buildings, or next to other vehicles.
What else did you want them to say?
They said more than was needed. I’ve never heard of a van catching fire before they made it.
LOL -- Hard to start a fire before the vehicle's Internal Combustion engine has been installed.
They’re journalists. What do you expect? I’m certain a fifth grader could write a better story.
The point is those monstrosities catch on fire unexpectedly. Why, you could be at grandma’s house, far, far way and over the hill and whatnot, and whoosh.
Well, you know one thing for sure: it burst into flames AFTER it was built.
Is that really and truly the point in contention in your mind? If semantics is the greatest issue here, then, perhaps, whatever it is that you’ve been doing has been an utter waste of life. You may want to consider a career change.
“The warning from all the media outlets was to avoid parking them within buildings, or next to other vehicles.”
So I should park it out in a field and take my Toyota back and forth to where I park it?
I will concede that Adler’s statment that THREE (of the 5,000 being recalled) ignited AFTER being manufactured is a hoot.
Its kind of vague whether the other 4,997 units ignited prior to manufactur, or if they’re being recalled BEFORE being manufactured, or what?
Like I said: put a 5th grader on the job. THEN you’ll know.
How many times would you watch a show titled: Are You Smarter Than a 3rd Grader?”
Here’s a thought for Jeff Foxworthy: how ‘bout a show called: “Are You Smarter Than A College Graduate?”
Gee, are you a parent? That show might actually make some ratings. Dunno. Maybe not. I guess the answer to that would depend if one is a parent or not...
Good thinkin. At least the Toyota’s don’t explode unexpectedly.
See, that’s the other thing, if they said these things explode expectedly, that’d be a whole load of law suit.
