"The No. 1 lesson from 1993," said Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff and a former Clinton aide, "was to make sure you could use reconciliation for health care and education."
Last April, Mr. Emanuel and Peter R. Orszag, the administration's budget guru, went to Capitol Hill to press Senate Democrats to make sure the budget then being written would provide the ability to approve a health care bill with the simple Senate majority that reconciliation requires.
...Democrats inserted the procedural fail-safe in the budget document, allowing special protection for legislation covering health and education as long as it cut the deficit.

It should be screen captured and saved so we can hang it around democrats necks when all the bad stuff in the health care bill kicks in and people start screaming.
A year ago, when they were doing the budget, last April, they made sure to put in some language to allow them to push this through with reconciliation.
This whole thing is a flagrant disregard of the will of the American people.
Ping
Ping.
We knew this from last year when they wrote the budget. It was mentioned a few times that they had written health care and education items into the budget.
then in 2013 with a Republican president and control of both houses, a similar strategy should be done to repeal these pieces of socialism by reconciliation also.
“We knew this from last year when they wrote the budget. It was mentioned a few times that they had written health care and education items into the budget.”
I do remember that they put in the establishment of the panel to assess “costs effectiveness” of medical treatments, so it will be ready for when the pass the healthcare bill. But I did not know that they put in language with the foresight to enable them to pass the healthcare legislation using reconciliation, if all else fails.
This was devious.

I hope the Supreme Court strikes it down.

Every Saturday a tiny bit of truth escapes into the air from the NYSlimes.
That’s because no one reads the Saturday paper.
The addition of the affirmative action bastard-in-chief has just made them more bold. It isn't disregard, it is fascist disdain for the now usurped sovereignty of the America people, and establishment of a federal oligarchy from which we the people will only be a hollow memory.
As soon as the democrats pass their amnesty bill and reinstate felons to vote, this open forum will be dangerous for expressing your point of view. You no longer live in a Republic, it's just taking time to realize it.
The democrats don't disregard the people, they disdain their vr existence if they do not fall in line for the now real oligarchy. Democrats hate the very core of this once great nation, our Constitution. Rather than have an open change to that founding document and the principles it portends, the democrats have in stealth cancelled it.
We have numerous scum working FR to give the impression that this is free expression to oppose the antiquated Constitution so the sheeple will embrace the serfdom of the federal olgarchy that their almost black affirmative action liar-in-chief daily mischaracterizes as 'hope and change' in order to defraud We The People.
The NYT can’t help themselves. They want to let everyone know how clever Rahm and the Obama administration were,,,,but they do it on a Saturday when no one is paying attention.
Not a chance in hell. Now please don't get me wrong; I love your thinking. It's just that Republican Party has proven so incredibly "gentlemanly" (read: "stupid") that they'd never even think of such a thing, let alone execute on it. Far better to get their asses handed to them time and time again and refuse to fight while pleading for manners, donchaknow.
This is not a time to attack Republicans for their lack of action, when they all stuck together, every one of them, and stood up against Obmacare. They have found their backbone and need to be encouraged to continue to fight.
Thanks for the ping!
