Maine also allows mentally ill people to vote.

Outside of the usual registered Democrats, I mean.

In matters of such grave consequence, you will usually find that it’s not just one person who has culpability. Trajedies of this nature (the death of a constitutional republic) are guaranteed to have a long line of culprits and unfortunate events that come to bear beforehand.

I’m pretty sure at this point that he’d have done it by executive order if they couldn’t strongarm & bribe the votes.

This is really a vanity with a incorrectly cited source. The link should be in the text of the post.

You are correct. Olympia Snowe is PERSONALLY responsible for the implementation of the Obama Marxist agenda.

That’s the point...actually, as I see it, this bill would have been law 8 months ago if she hadn’t stalled it - by trying to work a compromise, and it sent the Dems up the wall. To me, she actually helped.

Maine also allows mentally ill people to vote.

Stop it, Madame! You are frightening away Somali tourists. Besides, your thought was incomplete. It should have read:

Maine also allows mentally ill people to vote.... and assume office.

We must be the only state in the Union in which a family restaurant got its dishwasher elected governor, just to keep him from ruining the family business. Didn't take much. Went down to the Salvation Army, got him a couple of ill-fitting suits, and the rest is history. Sad history.

I wasn’t being hyperbolic with the executive order thing. I’ve not had a chance to research it yet—but it’s a relevant question right now—what are the limits on executive orders?

I guess that doesn’t even matter, the Consitution means nothing to these jerks. He could basically concoct anything & push it on us via executive order since there is nobody to stop him.

November can’t get here soon enough.

Suck on it, troll - stop trying to undermine MY PARTY by rewriting history - HER VOTE DID NOT MATTER.

I’m guessing she’s not up for re-election this Nov.

True, if we can keep people like the one who started this thread from turning our anger towards Republicans, as some really seem to want to do.

Here’s some Politico commentary from the time:

If Snowe votes no: This will be written as a major setback for Democrats, plain and simple.

For Baucus, this one stings because he would have put so much time and effort into wooing Snowe, all for naught. He doesn’t get the hero’s welcome, or a carrot to entice moderate Democrats.

And the failure to win Snowe’s support in Finance will raise questions about whether Baucus and Reid can win her support on the floor. Remember, Nelson has said he didn’t want to vote for an all-Democratic bill, and other moderates could be jittery without the bipartisan cover Snowe provides.

She gave them critical political cover.

Oh, I notice. One of the most maddening things about all their “wealth redistribution” is the way that they exempt themselves from it, in fact they suck up more from the public trough. Conyers and his wife are merely a recent example. Of course the MOST maddening thing is the way a majority in this country keep letting them do it.

Actually to advance out of committee rules state at least one vote from opposite party. She votes yes and sent the crapalanche downhill.

Also other than Cantor and Pence what other elected official stood up against the dembot smear tactics last week?

Also what happened to tying up the bill in knots with multiple procedural votes in the Senate? Two minor votes??

Spineless Quislings nearly all

Sad but true, there were enough commies without her to do the deed.

Senate committee rules that there must be at least ONE minority vote cast for a bill to come out of committee. Snowe was that vote.
