NPR ^ | 3/26/10 | Mark Memmot

Coming on stage to the tune of AC/DC's For Those About To Rock, We Salute You, the 2008 Republican presidential ticket just reunited in Pima, Ariz.

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is there to campaign on behalf of the 2008 GOP presidential nominee, Sen. John McCain. He's seeking his fifth term in the Senate.

Palin just said that "I think this go around, when all the votes are tallied he's going to win this one."

"Send the maverick back to the United States Senate!" the '08 vice presidential nominee, doing a little mavericking of her own in a leather jacket, told a couple thousand supporters at a local fair grounds.

Let’s do Palin the favor of retiring McCain in November and freeing her forever from feeling so indebted to the man. LOL

Why do you attack Palin like that? You think she's lying about supporting McCain out of some misplaced, misguided sense of loyalty? You think she's that weak that she can't speak her own mind? You think she would put political payoffs ahead of principles?

...so Sarah endorses McCain. Yawn. That doesn’t mean I have to rush out to vote for him. She can endorse anyone she cares to; it is up to US to do our own homework on the candidates before the primaries...

I don't know that she really has any choice. Can you imagine if she refused to campaign for him, or worse, came out for Hayworth?

Why do you attack Sarah like that? Do you think Palin is too weak to speak her mind? Do you think she is unable to say what she really thinks? Do you think she is too scared to endorse Hayworth if that is what she wants? Do you think she is lying to America when she says McCain is the better candidate?

You think she can be forced to lie beause of political favors or payback? What kind of person do you think she is?

April 13, first congressional level race, constitutionalist Edward Lynch’s donation page...

https://co.clickandpledge.com/sp/d1/default.aspx?wid=32307

I linked there through Reset 2010. TODAY we will have sent $9.12 to both JD Hayworth and to Edward Lynch for their races...that’s how “the anointed one” got in...we can do it, too...

we are pouncing because she is showing too much deference to an old man that failed to defend her from his own.

Why do you think you know more than Sarah Palin does about who McCain is and what he did for her? I assume you think she would be an excellent President, but you think she is too stupid to understand what McCain is?

I don’t want to get all wrapped around the “what’s up with Palin?” debate; I think it’s an issue with her of supporting someone she owes a personal debt. Whether or not we agree with that concept in the present circumstances, I’ll bet she won’t be heartbroken to see JD Hayworth win the race. And I think that explains McCain’s “Tea Party isn’t supporting anyone” comment: it gives her cover with the Tea Party (he thinks, anyway), neither claims TP’s support for himself nor concedes it for Hayworth (whether or not that’s the case).

The issue is this: you can support JD Hayworth with a small donation and encourage others to do the same, and we can sift Palin out as things go along. It’s not about Palin or any given individual at this point other than those who are running for office. Check out Reset.org for help with linking to support pages. April 13th is the first date coming up for the congressional level, Edward Lynch in Florida. As the “anointed one” said yesterday: Go for it!

Exactly what I said. I don’t attack, I support her greatly and I forgive this for one reason...

She feels indebted out of loyalty and honor to the man who put her on the national stage.

If McCain was just some Joe Rino, we know who she would be supporting in that election don’t we?

I contributed to Sarah PAC. I’m sure I won’t be happy with everyone she supports, but that’s politics.
We desperately need her right now to keep up what she is doing.

Sarah is harming herself politically more than she is helping McCain.

Well on this issue Palin and I will differ. The “Maverick” is a piece of fiction that never was. Just another idiot in love with his own press clippings.
Retire this jackass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She feels indebted out of loyalty and honor to the man who put her on the national stage.

What you say here is directly opposed and at odds with her stated reason for supporting McCain. She knows the McCain personally, knows his family, spend days with him. She knows him much better than you or I.

And in her book, and on the campaign trail, she is SAYING that McCain is a great person, and is the best choice for Senator.

When you suggest that she'd be supporting Hayworth if she didn't "owe" McCain, you are accusing her of lying about her reason for supporting McCain. And for any fault Palin may have, she does not appear to be a liar, and I don't know why you insist that she is lying about her support of McCain, except that you don't LIKE that she is supporting McCain, and instead of just acknowledging that she disagrees with your opinion, you'd rather think she is lying to herself and to us.

You can keep SAYING you aren't calling her a liar, but you are calling her a liar.

I think it’s an issue with her of supporting someone she owes a personal debt.

Why do you think that is the issue, when she explicitly and publicly says different? Why do you think you know better what she really means than she does?

I’ll bet she won’t be heartbroken to see JD Hayworth win the race.

I doubt she will be "heartbroken", but your suggestion that her support of McCain isn't real is insulting to her. Why do you keep insisting that she is lying when she says McCain is the best man for the Senate seat? Why do you insist that she couldn't have actually meant the nice things she said about McCain in her book, and why do you keep claiming that she isn't endorsing McCain because she wants him to win?

I really hate putting words into your mouth. Do you really want me to answer the 7 questions for you?

Unlike you, I believe that Sarah Palin is telling the truth. I beleive she thinks McCain is the best person for the Senate, and would rather have McCain win than JD Hayworth.

I think she truly believes he is an American hero and a maverick who stands for good in this country. I believe she meant it when she said he would be a great President.

So here were my questions:
Why do you attack Sarah like that? - Only you can answer that, I’m not attacking her.

Do you think Palin is too weak to speak her mind? - No, I believe she is speaking her mind.

Do you think she is unable to say what she really thinks? - No, I give her the courtesy of believing that she means what she says.

Do you think she is too scared to endorse Hayworth if that is what she wants? - No, if she wanted to endorse Hayworth, she would do so.

Do you think she is lying to America when she says McCain is the better candidate? - No, because I believe she means it. You don’t.

You think she can be forced to lie beause of political favors or payback? - No. but you seem to, which is why I ask if you really do.

What kind of person do you think she is? - I think she is a person of conviction that tells the truth regardless of the consequences, and does what she thinks is right no matter what. Whereas you seem to think she is the kind of person who would endorse someone she doesn’t really support in order to pay him back for picking her as VP.

I don’t like the way Palin is messing up her brand.

I fear by the time she’s done she’ll be embracing amnesty.

Your kinda stretching that out pretty thin man.

She can think all that stuff because they have history together and be quite genuine. If she was walking in cold comparing those two, we know where she woudl stand.

Basically she has made an emotional decision insofar as I can tell. She is loyal to the guy and is indebted... read grateful to him.

So cut the crap about me calling her a liar.
That is not what I said.

My support for Palin is strong.
