If there is one continuing disappointment for me here on FR it is this propensity to find someone “not guilty,” or even “guilty,” on the basis of a picture. We can think deeper than that.

At first blush, yes, I understand how folks come to that conclusion.
A bit deeper analysis might lead you to the understanding that it is simply blowing off steam. It’s a pretty intense time for the world and for America. A little inappropriate levity never hurt anyone too bad.

Is this actually a new phenomenon? Or, is this just more reported today than in the past? I don’t know the answer.
I went to school in the 70’s. This was every pubescent boy’s dream fantasy, and so far as any of us remember it never happened to anyone back then. The fact Mary Kay Letourneau got away with it appears to have made it hip and cool.
Yes, I’m well aware of this being a “joke”, or rather, sardonic humor brought about because a number of high profile cases like this where the “attractive” female teacher was given a very light sentence relative to what is given to men or unattractive women. I tried to make this point to another FReeper (female) and received the brunt of her animus because she couldn’t understand the “humor”.
Well, she didn’t actually “get away” with it. She did serve time in either jail or prison.

I had only one really good looking teacher, and she was 1st grade, and just graduated from college. They all went downhill after that.............
I had one hottie Mrs Valentine 3rd grade great teacher. The rest were ugly male and female. Some I think now were both.

There are threads, like this one, that are the equivalent to a midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Folks show up in costume with their lines already memorized. Nobody actually goes for the movie, although there is likely someone trying to shush the audience.
