Summer of ‘68 , I was an 8th grader, the English teacher was a real blonde cutie from South Dakota, sweet as the morning dew, I got a B from her.
Nothing ever happened.. oh well.
As to today, I blame Hollywood myself and the internet. Damn you alGore.

My guess is that it has always been around, but because of the 'Net and the sensationalism of the MSM it is more widely reported. Sex Sells.................EVEN when I was in HS, late 60's early 70's, there were rumors.................

In the past, teachers would be quietly drummed out of their position and nobody except those in the community where it took place knew about it. It certainly wasn't national news. Today's audience, though, is hungry for news that's a little more salacious and tabloid. That's way these stories get printed.
Though there is a valid argument concerning the "extended adolescence" that today's young adults find themselves experiencing where 20 and 30-somethings are still acting like teenagers and developing relationships with much younger people with whom they share the same level of maturity.
