Having ruined the pension funds of Americans nationally through corrupt and utterly unsustainable "projections" of future growth labor unions are now targeting your money to make up the difference: One of the nation's largest labor unions, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), is promoting a plan that will centralize all retirement plans for American workers, including private 401(k) plans, under one new "retirement system" for the United States. In effect, government pensions for everyone, not unlike the European system and regardless of personal choice.
Yes, because labor unions have done such a great job of managing their pension plans, right? Oh wait, they haven't. In fact, virtually none of them are actuarially sound, and they know it. So instead of addressing this (which would mean that workers would have to put up much more of their wages to be funneled into these funds) the SEUI is effectively advocating stealing your 401k - to cover for their outrageously rosy "estimates" on portfolio returns (which in fact have been negative over the last ten years.)
I may have been early in my "What's Broken: All Of It" Ticker about a year ago, but it also looks like I was right.
we took hit after hit on our investments, and whenever they actually gained a few cents, the taxes and fees ate most of that up...i figure for every month we lost money it would take a solid years of gains to break even, so we yanked it and reinvested in property...then that went into the crapper too...
nuthin left fer em to steal except the Mrss teaching pension, which the bankrupt state has already spent anyways...
hence my pessimism and heartbreaking desire for em to just declare martial law so we can 'get-r-done' and my kids can start rebuildin...
repent from the evil of our american 'idol' society and prep for the reset button...
I hear ya.
With regard to your American Idol society, I think it’s much more of a Entertainment Tonight society.
This senseless adoration of actors and musicians is extremely problematic. Both fields are okay, but to lend god-like status to either is destructive. Our society pays a heavy price for pushing this.
Our youth are more concerned about what some dumb ass kid (or adult) thinks than what is happening to our nation. “Sure, destroy the nation as long as X thinks it’s okay. I don’t care.” That’s the message unfortunately.
Bless all of you fighting for us.
Interesting to see how many of his predictions didn’t come true and some did, to some degree.
might as well have the extra cash for 'precious metals'...and wood & plastic...
RE 401K:
“Stand your ground.
Don’t fire unless fired upon.
But if they mean to have a war...”
Ya’ll know the rest.
I suspect that if the govt ever considers implementing this, they will make it retroactive to boot, so that no one can cash out and flee before it becomes effective.
They will push for Amnesty before they take this on, so it seems that preemptive action is a prudent move.
i was all about sex, drugs and rockNroll in the 80s but the latest crop of youth hasnt got a clue about anything except easy leisure with somebody else pullin the cart...my oldest son included...instant gratification has sunk to a whole new low these days [im sure my grandparents felt the same way] but i think we [the grownups who learned a bit of history and scripture] need to LEAD the way to repentence from all the 'idols' we serve in our daily lives...
The Lord is watching how we handle ourselves in this mess, unfortunately, that, i believe, is why our 'representatives' still have the ability to write...
I remember it being $100 billion (or maybe $100 trillion) for three eggs.
I hear ya...
I realized you were simply addressing a well known example with a poor name. No problem.
In the old days we called it Ted Mack’s Amateur Hour. Of course they’ve worked it over considerably in the process, no doubt.
There is an entertainment factor in there, but it has been blown out to be unwholesome IMO.
The ‘idol’ factor of it is real. That is not wholesome. It’s done to facilitate the expenditure of dollars, and massive profits.
These people are not interested in our youth, other than to exploit them as cash cows.
which is why i keep tellin the Mrs that these clowns are dtermined to be trillionaires...cause being a measly billionaire wont do before long...
So do they. Loud and clear.
teach some children while we still have a lil time...
They have already done it to some. Some workers (including non-union members) retired with health plans they earned in the private sector, and now Obama has a schedule to tax them, unless they backpedal when the tax is about to become effective. The date might depend on the reconciliation bill. Hard to keep up with the changes.
You actually saved money instead of spending it all? Do you realize how that hurt our economy. We have a consumption economy. If they wanted us to save, they wouldnt drop savings interest rates to 1%. They want us to borrow instead and spend that. Saving for the future is very selfish. It shows you don't trust your GOVMENT to provide for you. Think of Thanks-giving as Thanks-Obama-ing or Obama-giving :)
Guess who? And why does the music business promote (choose your own noun) like this as "guitar heroes?"
I don’t know if this is true or not but here’s what I’m doing.
I’m stopping my 401K contributions for now. (I withhold the maximum). I’m investing in America’s future and using all of that money to support conservative candidates this year.
If the conservatives take control of Congress in November (and I think they will), it will be money well-spent.
If they don’t, my money won’t be worth anything anyway at that point and I’ll go out with at least the comfort of knowing that I tried.
Well, it in a way many said this would happen.
There is to much money in those accounts for the government not to want to steal it. Just the nature of the beast.
