Less than a day after President Obama signed the Democrats healthcare bill into law, the Ranking Republican of the House subcommittee with funding jurisdiction over federal healthcare spending has proposed House-Senate strategy discussions to defund the new law. U.S. Congressman Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.) has sent a letter to House and Senate leaders proposing that meetings begin immediately to "undo the damage" done by the new healthcare law, including moves to defund the new mandates.
Tiahrt is the Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education.
"Now that President Obama has signed the unconstitutional healthcare bill into law, Republicans need a full-court-press strategy to undo the damage Democrats have created," said Tiahrt. "I am calling for strategy discussions with House and Senate leaders so we can begin the process of defunding every federal mandate contained in the presidents new law."

Repeal, reform, replace, reload, de-fund.
Rep. Tiahrt definitely has the right idea. But Republicans tend to get bogged down in the details and forget to do the marketing. That’s fine for people like us who have been following this, but we don’t need convincing. And the Dems are too good as painting us as mean when we try to stop them.
In the meantime we also need to focus on those who occasionally tune in & just want their free stuff & can’t be bothered with the horrible details in this bill or how it’s funded. We only have a few seconds at a time to reach these folks, so there’s no point in talking about the trillions it will cost or cooked CBO numbers.
Rather, Republicans need to hit hard with things that reach these people directly, such as taxing now & getting the free stuff much later or the cost of student loans going up by $1500-$1700 a year or IRS enforcement.
Another is to stress the congressional exemption of these exchanges. This is particularly important because those looking for the free goodies believe in fairness, which always translates into spreading the misery equally.
Certainly keep the lawsuits going, and definitely defund. But while Obama is running around peddling utopia, Republicans need to identify their targets and keep it simple for the public.
Dems realized long ago that it’s easier to feel than it is to think. Republicans need to market to the “feeling” group & make them feel very bad about what’s coming their way while constantly working behind the scenes to tear this thing apart.
Barack Hussein Obama said the following in 2007:
Those big-ticket items, fixing our health care system. You know, one of the arguments that sometimes I get with, uhh, my fellow progressives and -- and some of these have -- have flashed up in the blog communities on occasion -- is this notion that we should function sort of like Karl Rove, where we -- we identify our core base, we throw 'em red meat, we get a 50-plus-one, uhhh, victory. See, Karl Rove doesn't need a broad consensus because he doesn't believe in government. If we want to transform the country, though, that requires a -- a sizeable majority.
The bottom line is is that our health care plans are similar. The question, once again, is: Who can get it done? Who can build a movement for change? This is an area where we're going to have to have a 60% majority in the Senate and the House in order to actually get a bill to my desk. We're going to have to have a majority to get a bill to my desk that is not just a 50-plus-one majority.
You gotta break out of what I call the sort of 50-plus-one pattern of presidential politics. Maybe you eke out a victory with 50-plus-one but you can't govern. You know, you get Air Force One and a lot of nice perks as president but you can't -- you can't deliver on health -- we're not going to pass universal health care with a -- with a 50-plus-one strategy.
Let's reiterate one of his comments.
"Maybe you eke out a victory with 50-plus-one but you can't govern."
Obama is about to find out how true that is...particularly after the 2010 elections, and then for absolute sure for him after 2012.
We have a band of traitors running this country. I know of no other way to state it or express it. That is the truth about Barack Hussein Obama and those in league with him. They have proven by their words, their deeds, and their stances...for decades...what they are, and now they have punctuated it with this God-forsaken, monstrocity social health care bill, and intend to continue punctuating it with amnesty for illegal aliens, a world-wide socialist cap and trade effort...among many other things.
They are marxist ideologs who hate the free market, who hate free enterprise, who disdain the constitution and its attending, foundational principles, who reject freedom and personal responsibility, and who promise the wrteched masses that they themselves have created through dependancy, anything they think they want, so they can amass power to themselves and destroy this Republic, its liberty and way of life, and make it over into a decrepid socialist/marxist state where they and their cronies amass tyranical power unto themselves.
This cannot stand...indeed, this MUST NOT STAND. We must press forward to the elections of 2010 and throw these enemies out with such resounding clarity that it cannot be denied either here or abroad what is occurring. We must do so by turning to the constitution and the principles that are its foundation and then electing only those candidates who swear their allegiance to that constitution and those principles.
Nothing else will do.
If, as a people, we do not turn away from the course these quislings and traitors have set us on, then, as history and God are our witness, we will ultimately be left only with same course our own forefathers were compelled to take...that is, the force of arms, in the hands of citizens and citizen soldiers of this country to route these traitors out.
We are at a monumental crossroads in our nations history. We are on a path to self destruction and the loss of our freedom and way of life. But we have the opportunity to turn off that path and return to the principles that have made America free and prospered her.

From what others have said here:
If we win the House, the House can DEFUND ObamaCare. Boehner has promised he would - period.
We have to do this and we have to make sure the GOP does it. And we have to get the RINOs out like McCain, Benett in UT who is toast. We have to fight fight fight or it is over.
Tell your friends especially baby boomers and seniors. They will never see an America like we had pre-Nov 2008 again for the rest of their lives if we fail. The rest of their lives will be miserable and it will get worse.
Obamas birth credentials legitimately call into question his constitutional right to be President. When will he be proven to be foreign born or not in a court of law? I believe
Obama is an imposter
who should either cooperate with the investigation of his actual birth and/or be removed.
Market it? (I agree with you):
The marketing message, in much nicer words, is:
“if you are a senior or baby boomer - the rest of your life is eff’ed and it will be absolute s**t but you have one last chance in November 2010.”
Think Russia after the fall of the USSR with millions begging and sleeping in the subways. I saw videos and photos and it was heartbreaking.
And if the GOP wins the House (they have to) - they HAVE to DEFUND it. The GOP has been given a gift but they MUST fight for America and they & we must purge the RINOs.
The GOP sucks. Get rid of the Rinos and maybe we stand a chance. Otherwise, guys like McCain and Romney will make sure we are screwed.
The same way Scott Brown ran to vote against the health care bill, the republicans should run this Fall on the promise of defunding everything and everyone connected to Obamacare.
you need an “R” word
how ‘bout refuse?
Yeah, Kansas!!
I agree with you. Once it has been established that Obama is the biggest fraud thrust upon the USA (and he is,folks), this law would be rescinded overnight!
Tiahrt,
Is unlikely to be around to defund the health care bill.he is leaving the house after this term and running for Senate in the KS primary. He is running against another good guy Jerry Moran. We might lose to good guys in the house and get one in thw senate.
Speaking of marketing conservatism, here's a great PJTV video about that very subject from Bill Whittle.
Purging the RINO’s is extremely important.
All good ideas.
I also think somebody for the tea party needs to step up and demand proof of these so-called racial epithets last weekend and these so-called death threats. If something isn’t done to put them in check, they will use this over and over to completely smear pubs and independents indeifnitely to or through the election.
