Debra’s dad in “Everyone Love Raymond” ....
Me. Culp first caught my attention as Trent in The Outer Limits episodes ‘Demon With A Glass Hand’, ‘Corpus Earthling’ and ‘Architechts Of Fear’ where he showed his talent as an exceptional character actor.
Also admired his work in ‘Combat!’ and when he seemed to hit his stride in ‘I Spy’, where he not only acted, but wrote and directed several of its more memorable episodes.
I’ll also admit that it was Culp’s capabilities that grabbed my eye in a little known, Gene Roddenbery written made for TV flick titled ‘Spectre’ opposite Gig Young before Connie Sellecca’s eye candy got me to watch ‘The Greatest American Hero’.
A consumate professional, whether sharing the sceen with Racquel Welch, Eliot Gould or James Coburn and one who consistently delivered more than what was aked of him.
The world will be less colorful with his passing.
Jack.
You cab watch a couple seasons of “I Spy” for free on www.hulu.com.

I watched this show a few months ago and noticed something else. The exotically attractive young lady who assists him in this episode not long afterward gained a certain fame of her own when she portrayed Spock’s logical but treacherous Vulcan fiancee on Star Trek.
As to Culp, Hugh Hefner said it was Culp who devised the motto hung over the Playboy Mansion doorbell. “If you don’t swing, don’t ring”. Might explain the softcore porn magazine photospread Culp and one of his earlier wives posed for in the late 60s or early 70s.
