Democratic senators ripped their Republican counterparts for forcing cancellations of hearings throughout the Senate on Wednesday, claiming that the GOP is needlessly blocking essential national security business.
Armed Services Chairman Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and Sen. Claire McCaskill both complained that Republicans kept them from holding their hearings on budget requests for the military's Pacific and strategic and police training contracts in Afghanistan.
Either party in the Senate is allowed to object to holding hearings, as Senate rules require a unanimous consent request for hearings to be held after 2 p.m. Most of these unanimous consent requests arent even noticed on any given day, but Republicans have been objecting to these requests, essentially shutting down committee work.

Oh, so suddenly the dems care about foregin policy? That’s new.
GOOD I WANT THEM TO GO TO WAR. WHO GIVES A D*RN IF THEY LOSE ANY FRIENDS OVER THIS...!
Given that the Democrats want to destroy our national defense and security,
the fewer committee meetings those Democrat traitors hold the better.
The traitors who worked everyday to embolden the terrorist enemies in Iraq during President Bush Presidency are now so concerned about national security. These socialists are the scums of the earth.
Considering how bloody clueless the Dems are on foreign policy and defense, this seems like a “win” to me.
Good point.
No really. They actually care a lot as they cut military funding for one program after another. They’ve been doing it for decades. But don’t forget how much they care.
The Republicanic party should make sure the Deomocratic party has nothing to do for the rest of the year. Obama has a handle on everything right now.
The dems decided they can run the country on their own!
Let’s see how that works out for them now.
And how to undermine it.
Leven wanted cooperation from McConnell and Mitch told him “he’d look into it.” LOL.
It’s actually the most effective strategy I’ve seen from the GOP. The less the Senate gets done, the less damage they do.
I want the GOP to be mean and nasty now. Coburn adn the rest need to add 5 million changes to Obamacare and tie it up until Nov. F the Dems! They are vermin.
In Nov we have to take the House back then Boehner promised he would defund ObamaCare.
Good on our GOP guys. Shut ‘em down. The Rats betrayed this country; they should get nothing else though.
