State senators are killing a measure that would have guaranteed the right to use flag staffs or poles to fly the American flag in planned communities, despite pleas from veterans who gave up their military service ribbons in protest.

Personally, under Obama, I refuse to fly my American flag.

>”Personally, under Obama, I refuse to fly my American flag.”

Fly it upside down. Its a signal for duress.

From Wikipedia

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_it_mean_when_the_flag_is_flown_upside_down

While the U.S. Flag Code does permit flying the flag with the union down, it specifies only “...as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.”

I suppose you might consider the destruction of our Republic in there.

I hear what you’re saying. I don’t feel that same “pride” I used to feel. I remember during the Apollo missions in the 60’s, when I was 8 years old watching the moon landing on TV and feeling proud of my country.

The Progressive mission is to cause us to not feel that pride anymore, so it’s a conundrum. Maybe I’ll switch to the “Stars and Bars” flag.. or the Gadsden flag. THAT one is awesome and I DO have a nice one.

IMHO planned communities are experiments in how citizens will respond to enforcement of behavior, landscaping, house paint, dress codes and all other community standard rules.

This idea of PUDs (Planned Unit Developments), began with senior communities and has spread like a virus to age mixed family enclaves. Residents don’t really own their property - they are merely registered mortgage holders with I.D cards and numbers.

These communities could easily & conveniently be surrounded and cordoned off.

If you want to plant a 12 foot high pole with a giant flag, then don’t do it in an HOA which prohibits this. Simple.

No matter how sad you feel under Obama and I do too or how you feel about planned communities, we should all have the right to fly our country’s flag. These senators are sleezy and cowardly and I will bet they will not uphold the constitution as required in their oath.

Big military presence in Hawaii...active and retired.I would think the legislature would fear a backlash.May I assume that the Hawaii legislature is dominated by RATS?

Maybe they respect the right to contract which is what CC&R’s. You agree to those rules by moving in to that community.

I had a friend who moved to one of these. When spring came, she was paid a visit by the self-important board of puritans who informed her that her yellow garden hose did not conform to the lofty standards set by the we-know-best needlenoses.

Remind anyone of current events?

***the self-important board of puritans***

I have a theory that liberals have an innate sense of *neat freakiness* for OTHER PEOPLE. They hoard their toys from other kids, borrow stuff they don’t return, suck up to become teachers’ pets, volunteer for hall monitors, run for class president to flex their muscles and join cliques to feel superior.

They are not leaders, innovators or true intellectuals. They copy and cheat from others. Do not give credit and will more likely plagiarize without attribution. Sometimes they have narcissism masquerading as charisma, but without talent or depth.

Self-important busy bodies who make rules for everyone else.
