(OREM) A former advisor to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher says scientists and the media have falsified data and exaggerated conclusions suggesting that mankind is behind climate change. Speaking at a forum at Utah Valley University on Tuesday, Lord Christopher Monckton attacked a Brigham Young University geochemistry professor and his colleagues, who have taken state lawmakers to task for over-relying on climate skeptics, like himself, for their information. He accused the BYU scientists of being terrified of non-political and scientific arguments refuting mainstream climate science and said post-normal science is being practiced the way science was done under Hitlers Germany. Steve Nelson, one of the BYU scientists Monckton criticized, was invited to attend the free event but was a no-show. He commented that Moncktons hyperbole speaks for itself. Monckton also took jabs at former Vice President Al Gore, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the Salt Lake Tribune and said the GOP will sweep the November general elections.
From the article: Monckton also took jabs at former Vice President Al Gore...
Ah. BYU's now on the same side as Al Gore, getting critiqued by Lord Monckton, who's criticizing both?
If you want to see Lord Monckton's main arguments, here's what was published in Monday's Provo Daily Herald the day before he spoke in Utah: Lord Monckton: Climate facts, not consensus
Are BYU’s cold fusion madcaps at it again? They must be putting pepper on their burgers.
Thatcher would not have suffered fools as advisors.
BYU professor can hardly complain about accusations of fraud when Mormonism is a provable fraud.
I thought that group was from University of Utah. No?
Why is that, regardless of the topic, some people just can’t avoid attacking another person’s religiion?
I love it when Monckton confronts Obama’s Hitler Youth Corps in Copenhagen:

As an earth scientist and computer modeler - agw was a myth from the get-go. However, PC overwrote factual and objective evaluation of climate data. the ‘fudge factors’ written into the data are criminal. Its nice to see Monckton giving those who aided and abeted the farce the comeuppance.
The topic is BYU. BYU is a Mormon University and a few of their profs are complaining that public officials are relying too much on real science rather than make-believe science.
Mormon theology cannot be supported by neither history nor archaeology. It is based on a lie; just like global warming.
My thoughts exactly. Let’s take a lousy situation, and inject religion in it to really throw people off the scent.
Last time I looked, Mormons weren’t planning to institute a gigantic scheme to separate me from my money on the basis of a bunch of fraudulent assumptions.
What’s with BYU? They let that kook with his “terrorists didn’t blow up the Twin Towers” produce his research, too.
It seems neither Gore nor any of the others that propigated this global warming lie wants to debate Monckton, the lying cowards.
They lie to their own members about their history, to the press about who they are, and to the world about being conservatives. The lower rank believers are so completely deceived by the religion that they will change from conservatives to liberals as they increase in rank...That is one of the great secrets of mormonism.
Harry Reid is the most powerful mormon in the world. Massachusetts Rino Romney is #2. The mormon leader has embraced them both, allowing multiple public speaking opportunities before BYU etc, yet virtually disowned Glenn Beck.
As Patriotism has become more more and more un-pc over the last few decades, the LDS has changed from the John Brich Society version of Mormonism under Ezra Taft Benson, to Harry Reid being allowed to address the entire faculty (With LDS first presidency members on the stand behind him) and student body at BYU telling them how it's ok to be a Mormon and a democrat. Utah will not remain conservative, that man made religion will sway to and fro with whatever doctrine helps it prosper in the political climate of the time.
Blah, blah, blah. Get a life.
Well said. Excellent cultural analysis.
I don’t know about that. From former Mormons I know, that church is pretty good at intimidating its members to contribute to the organization.
That may very well be...but they aren’t forcing me to be a Mormon, so as long as I decline their entreaties to join them, I don’t have to contribute anything to them.
I think the bigger problem is that they are fraudulent scientists.
The Corporation of the President of the LDS Church is a Fortune 50 size comglomerate.
Not Fortune 500, Fortune 50 !
They have their members brainwashed into thinking the upper management is completely unpaid, but it’s a giant lie !
They last media estimate (Time Magazine I think) done in the mid 90’s has them investing an additional 6 Billion a year to their giant portfolio. Imagine being paid all of the wages of all of the workers of 1/3 of the Union Pacific cross continental line, plus a full 25% stake in the company back in the 1840’s (Brigham Young insisted Union Pacific paid HIM the men’s wages, and then sent the men to work on a “Calling from God” to work, he kept the money for the “church”)....Compound the interest and add 6 billion a year until now and you are dealing with possibly the most powerful church in the country, financially.
They are nothing but corporate wolves, and they will teach ANYTHING as doctrine to recruit new members in order to make another buck.
Ignore this threat to our country and freedom at your peril.
I was being just a bit sarcastic. I agree that the BYU guys are frauds and the facts don’t seem to bother them. Mormonism is similar in that the facts just don’t support its tenets.
