A new Facebook group has been created dedicated to the benefits of civilization. Search for Hour of Power on Facebook to join the group.
Terrific idea. I will look for it tonight.
I did search Hour of Power and only got the religious group.
Is there more to the name?
The problem is it seems there is some religious show with that name and those are drowning out the results.
dude, you need a different name or at least post a link...no one can find it.
I was in Sydney, Australia for last years “Earth Hour”. The next day officials admitted that electric consumption was virtually unchanged during that time. A perfect example of symbolism over substance.
Remember, it isn’t about power consumption but about “light pollution”.
Too much light means you can’t see ^all^ the stars. Light is bad, growth is bad, humans are a blight the earth, yada.
Electric consumption actually spikes when everyone turns everything back on. It is more efficient to just leave stuff running.
I was able to find it. Type Hour of Power in the search box, then on the left side click “Groups.” It’s the group with the Sydney skyline picture and says “Hour of Power” at the bottom.
Or click the link. :)

My son sent me this email the other day:
“Richard became a fan of Turning on all my lights at Earth Hour just to piss off hippies. on Facebook and suggested you become a fan too.”
OK, so this is on March 28 from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, right? If so, I will be lighting up the neighborhood with a great deal of gusto! Let’s see how much we can dip the frequency on the grid!
No, that’s the whole name, but it is pretty new. Try this link:

Thanks.
Just joined. There is also another group I joined, so so much fun.
