Rep. John Dingell (D-MI), the Dean of the House of Representatives for being the longest serving member of the body (he was first elected in 1955, succeeding his father, Rep. John Dingell, Sr.), made an amazing admission during a live telephone interview with Detroit WJR News/Talk 760 radio talk show host Paul W. Smith on Smith's show Monday morning, March 22, 2010. The night before, Dingell had been a featured speaker at the Democrat Congressional leadership victory press conference after Obamacare passed the House.
In response to a question posed by Smith, Dingell said:
Let me remind you this [Americans allegedly dying because of lack of universal health care] has been going on for years. We are bringing it to a halt. The harsh fact of the matter is when you're going to pass legislation that will cover 300 [million] American people in different ways it takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people.

I feel like Mussolini now! — Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y.
How many Americans will lose coverage come January. Even if we drop all the hyperbole and look at it rationally, how many can afford a minimum 100% premium hike. VAT tax is coming next, unless you are in the top 25% (or less) of earners in this country, you will be forced into an ever expanding Welfare State.
Well, I for one, would not shed a tear if he kicked the bucket...
That would solve part of the problem...
I agree completely, they could only go by their experience and "world view" at the time. In addition, on your first point, not only were the representatives educated and honorable, I don't think the Founders could ever imagine a citizenry that would ever become so ignorant, greedy, and self-centered. I think it is a fair statement to say that citizens of those times would never be duped into voting for representatives that are so reprehensible.
On your second point, again, based on their experience and world view, they didn't imagine that term limits would be needed. Exactly as you say, the honor of being a representative was never viewed to be a "career" position. They would take a turn if called upon to SERVE, then return to their prior situations.
The bottom line is that this administration and its fellow travelers are looting this country. It is a theft of unimaginable proportions, one which makes the sacking of Rome look like ripping off a pack of gum from a convenience store in comparison.
The -isms are merely the tools used, and not even heartfelt idealogies for most of these people.
When Government claims to have the interests of the individual at heart, grab your wallet. They want the principle, too.
It won't be called a VAT, BTW, you have to add value to have a VAT, and they are stripping the country of the means of doing so. They'll either call it a 'fair' or 'consumer' tax, but will retain the ability to tax the earnings of the 'rich'.
Keep the catechism in mind, and the Wright teachings, and part of the ripoff is 'payback' along the reparations meme, and plays to the 'everybody owes me' mentality liberals often have, but at its core is the Looting of America.
There, I am afraid, is only one answer here. I think this is all going to melt into violence. The nation is too polarized. I hate to say it, but we need to be hit by the Muslims again, hard. Otherwise, we are going to end up in Civil War....and that will lead to WWIII.
It will have to come down to that before things really change. The other side is pure evil.
“Dingell is 84 and will soon be taking up his permanent residence in hell.”
True, but there will be “another John Dingell” sent from that District to Congress. Maybe even politically worse. I don’t see a Paul Ryan coming out of that Congressional District, but maybe we’ll be surprised.
I suspect you will not have to wait too long for that. Unfortunately.
Dingell the slave master.
Fine with me. No way am I taking any of their medication. My personal believe is that we peaked in the late 60's early 70's as a civilization (Moon Landings). Everything is going down hill rapidly since then. Now just imagine were that fall has taken our Government regulated Medical Industry. Last time I saw a Doctor was 25 years ago and they had no idea what was causing my problem. Now it is considered a common ailment. In other words, they are clueless.
