OTTAWASecurity officials have scrubbed American right-winger Ann Coulters speech at the University of Ottawa after a boisterous protest prompted concerns for her safety.
A spokesman for the group that organized the event said there were fears for Coulters well-being after about two thousand people gathered outside the venue to protest her presence there.
Coulter is a darling of the U.S. right-wing who uses incendiary language to sell millions of books as well as her syndicated column.
She sparked more controversy during a speech at University of Western Ontario Monday night when she told a 17-year-old Muslim student to take a camel instead of a the flying carpet she has previously suggested Muslims use for transportation.
Even before her Canadian tour began, Coulter received a pre-emptive and private caution about the limits of free speech in this country from the provost of the University of Ottawa.
The letter was immediately leaked to select conservative news organizations, with Coulter telling one that the university was threatening to criminally prosecute me for my speech.

>> The world has gone mad.
That happens periodically just before a culture collapses into the bones and dust of history. <<
Well even after Rome there arose several empires from the ashes.
Small consolation I know.
Not well. We have deteriorated to the point where censorship brownshirts control who can say what, where, and to whom.
Canada is best described as “A Brave New World.”
Because that would be really stupid if that was your thought process.
Umm, people still live in Buffalo? LOL...
Bingo.
My post #64, re vast exaggeration of the "two thousand protesters". Saw about the two dozen mentioned. Surely the cameras would have been only too available to make a real big story. There was no story- except the failure of democracy.
Suspicions confirmed. The police told Ezra Levant it was the possibility of danger and advised shut the meeting down.
“Take a guess! Does the recent antics of ACORN give you a hint?”
Would opposition to the nuts be there and take action?
One of the problems with being Conservative is that Conservatives are generally law abiding and not disposed to lose their law abiding status (not to mention time and money) by getting arrested for involvement in confrontations with people like those in ACORN or SEIU and those who cause trouble when Conservative speakers speak.
But what if Security and the Law stayed out of it? I wonder how things would turn out then.
Would the trouble makers learn they’d be happier if they were someplace else on such occasions?
Aw nuts, the dreaded double post.
I hope Ann Coulter marries me!
Formerlib,
How did you change, when , why? what did you believe then as opposed to now?
As a proponent of unfettered free speech, is there any reason she should be surprised when others take advantage of it?
So muslims can declare Jihad against Christians and Jews, but Ann can’t tell a muslim to take a camel. Evil is among us and he isn’t pushing on us this time to eat an apple.
Hope she still took their money....lol
Truth, women, Jews, pigs,...and little things that go bump in the night, mostly.
Some have argued that the center of Christianity is moving from the US to Asia. As you know, it went from Jerusalem to the Greeks, to the Romans, to Europe, to the Americas and appears to be heading to Asia. (Korea's population has the highest percentage of Christians in the world.)
I agree that once America loses its Christianity, the devil will have freer reign. But God will keep his Christian people on Earth spreading the gospel until He says "Your task is complete!"
a better example might be barack’s mummie and daddy
Sigh... I’m in love with Ann Coulter...
you for got dogs and the U.S. Marines
