OTTAWA—Security officials have scrubbed American right-winger Ann Coulter’s speech at the University of Ottawa after a boisterous protest prompted concerns for her safety.
A spokesman for the group that organized the event said there were fears for Coulter’s well-being after about two thousand people gathered outside the venue to protest her presence there.
Coulter is a darling of the U.S. right-wing who uses incendiary language to sell millions of books as well as her syndicated column.
She sparked more controversy during a speech at University of Western Ontario Monday night when she told a 17-year-old Muslim student to “take a camel” instead of a the flying carpet she has previously suggested Muslims use for transportation.
Even before her Canadian tour began, Coulter received a pre-emptive and private caution about the limits of free speech in this country from the provost of the University of Ottawa.
The letter was immediately leaked to select conservative news organizations, with Coulter telling one that the university was “threatening to criminally prosecute me for my speech.”

By believing the myth that the Government actually gave a damn about individuals. No government ever did nor never will. Government was created to do things that individuals could not and would not do themselves. Those limited responsibilities are not enough for an enterprise, like any other enterprise, wants to grow and it has, by promising to do things for us that we could have done on our own.
It is always willing to go above and beyond is duty -- for a price in treasure and freedom.
The news cameras showed but very little commotion. They showed the two hundred supporters of Ann filing in quietly. They were chanting "we want Ann". Ok, then Ezra Levant came to the podium. He said that safety concerns were raised for Ann's safety. He blistered the University and the climate that had been engendered. The meeting was off.
The cameras panned outside. It seemed that there was a bit of milling, Maybe they did not show more but- two thousand protesters, no way. All seemed under control. The woman pictured here made a statement and the muslim woman said she had been "stabbed in the heart".
We Canadians might be getting the wrong end of biased reporting here. We all know that Ann is not going to get even the semblance of a fair shake. We know that first reports are often exaggerated. This happens all the time with the media. Wait until the dust settles and there might be a different take.
Ann still got a rotten deal though.
Judging from this garbage, it sounds like the “left wing” hates the “right wing” and doesn’t think that freedom of speech (AND THOUGHT) is a very good idea.
They can use open death threats but we have to sit and take it.
We have the weapons--and knowledge of use thereof.
They have placards and offensively loud voices. And not much more.

Yep. Just like in 1930s, when Germany was rearming itself and Hitler's Mein Kampf was all the rage, and the French schoolchildren were taken to see the obligatory movies about internationalism.
Not only is the obvious no longer obvious to many --- those people view as obvious the exact opposite of reality.
I am afraid, the consequences will be similar.
You know next time we encounter liberal Oppression of this sort we all need to play “confuse and humiliate the liberal”.
This is achieved by playing against their inherent narcissism and their sense of moral superiority.
Scenario One: They start protesting our free speech rights by yelling and forming a unruly mob. Shouting profanities and making baseless liberal empty headed accusations.
Tactic One: Join arms with your fellow conservative and sing a song back at them in unison. Sing it in a sarcastic tone to remind those pot smoking dope head liberals about the time they forgot, (apparently the 60’s). I would love to see a bunch of liberals start protesting another Ann Coulter event and her supporters outside all of a sudden join arms at the elbows together and start singing a very sarcastic version of “kumbayah” together. I think either one of two results would occur, either their brains would melt down in a “divide-by-zero” event, or they would get really pissed off and they would start doing foolish things to attract the attention of the law enforcement in the area, leaving us looking like the honest good citizens we are.
Scenario Two: Infil-traitors at a tea party event.
Tactic Two: Form a “human chain ring” around the offender and move the whole circle to the edge of the protest area and then expel them like cell expelling the waste that they are.
If anyone else has any better ideas, post ‘em. We could use them.
